12 Monkeys and Source Code[edit]

Out of idle curiosity, what made you think of 12 Monkeys while you were watching Source Code? I really liked both movies but haven't seen 12 Monkeys in so long I don't remember it very well beyond a few specific scenes. So I'm kind of wondering if there's something I don't recall that's causing the connection for you. Figured I'd ask you here instead of on the article since it's more fan chatter than article improvement. Millahnna (talk) 09:42, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The way I saw it was as follows: There's the idea of a single subject being sent into another world repeatedly in order to save lives and the exploration of which world (the one where he's being sent, and the one he's sent to) is more real. I'm surprised reviewers haven't been noting the connection I can't think of too many movies that directly focus on a character trying to figure out which world is real (especially in a sci-fi context). Huh. I see what you mean now. I forgot about the repeating factor in 12 Monkeys. It really has been a long time, I guess. I don't think I've seen 12 Monkeys since it came out on video. When you spell it out like that I'm a little surprised, too. I'm sure some analysis type stuff will come out over the next year about Source Code; it's the type of film that draws that kind of attention (there's already been some about the theoretical physics of time travel). I'll keep an eye out for anything making the comparison and see if anything comes up we can use. Millahnna (talk) 05:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
