Year 2000 census data?[edit]

Hello, The year 2000 will be, in 20 days, 16 years behind us. It's entirely past the time to update the census info, in this wiki. N'est pas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.187.17.0 (talk) 13:27, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

adding a link[edit]

Hello, I would like to add a link to the Hunter McGuire School information under Harrisonburg schools. The website address is:

www.huntermcguire.org

thank you. Please let me know if you need more information or if you have any questions.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.152.126.184 (talkcontribs) 19:07, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hunter McGuire isn't part of the Harrisonburg City School system, it belongs under the entry for Rockingham County, if there is one.

I would like to add Cornerstone Christian Academy as well as an outstanding school based on Biblical ethics and standards with sports, solid foundation, and excellent education. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.73.227.209 (talk) 22:56, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It can be mentioned in the education section of the article about Rockingham County, Virginia as the school is not located in the city limits of Harrisonburg. The mention, however, should be brief and should avoid any type of promotional language or other boosterism that cannot be supported by neutral sources (basically, anything that is an opinion not supported by an outside organization or publication). The link to the school's website should be in the form of a citation, not a bare link at the end or within the article. --JonRidinger (talk) 20:27, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Natives and residents[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:BIO regarding the requirements for including individuals in this section. As long as an individual meets the general requirements of the standard, they can/should be included. The list should also be kept alphabetical, per Wikipedia:MOSLIST --TRL (talk) 16:08, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category overkill[edit]

I've noticed there are quite a few categories related to Harrisonburg now and I think we might have a case of over-categorization. For instance, having JMU listed under separate buildings and structures, education, and visitor attraction categories is overkill. Education is enough. A buildings and structures category is for articles about buildings, not a university itself, which is far more than just buildings. Attractions really doesn't apply either since it's an educational institution, not a tourist attraction. All universities attract visitors, but that doesn't mean they would be considered a tourist attraction; most people come to a university for a specific purpose, not as tourists. Usually if the main category has a large amount of articles, then you start branching them off. Having a "Schools in Harrisonburg" and "Education in Harrisonburg" is redundant in any city, but especially in one the size of Harrisonburg. Because Harrisonburg is an independent city, having a separate category for the schools is needed since it can't be in a county, however, there is no need for both education and schools. Outside of the "James Madison University" category, "People from Harrisonburg, Virginia" category, and "Education in Harrisonburg, Virginia" (or "Schools...") category, there really isn't a need for the additional categories as each has just 1 or 2 pages in each and in several cases, one article is present in 2 or 3 categories. This makes it far more difficult to find things that are related because you have to go through a category tree. --JonRidinger (talk) 20:17, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
