"Thus, gangs are often more-or-less tolerated by prison administrators due to the side-benefits they create" Really, I work for a correctional facility and I have never tolerated such benefits. Perhaps the author of this statement could provide some examples.

"Prison rape is also consciously ignored by guards and authorities for this same functionality." Deleted because that is opinion with no factual basis cited and appears to address an agenda rather than an informational function.

Deleted statement that AB is somehow aligned with the "Aryan Nations" group. Other than the use of the term "Aryan" in the names of the two groups, they share little in common. AB is a prison gang that is dedicated to running rackets behind bars and has little or no ideological agenda.

The information regarding black Eme members is questionable. Any sources? There used to be some blacks associated with sureno gangs in SoCal, but given the current climate on the streets and in the "correctional system", that is long a thing of the past.

Native Gangs[edit]

This is a very interesting article but it is wholly lacking sources. General comments[edit]

Hi Shreyadhital

For the lede (introductory paragraphs), you didn't have one. Rather the page went straight to the definition section. I've deleted the definition title to give the page a lede, but that is still not a summary of much of the page's content. Please consider adding a quick summary of the main points
You should organize the page through careful use of headings and subheadings. Right now everything is headings but there is a clear hierarchy of information. I have made a few edits but I'd recommend that you try to spend a little time on this.
In discussing the convict code, it would be useful to highlight the role of informal norms more clearly, and maybe link to discussions of informal norms on Wikipedia.
There are several times when the citation you are using is not clear. I'm sure it's one of the references you cite, but you should make clear which one. I've highlighted some examples with a Citation Needed tag.
The Alternative Factors and Explanations section could be better organized. For instance, could you identify the core ideas and organize around these, rather than organizing around specific papers.
The Policy Implications section is short and not as useful or well done as other sections

- Can you link items like stationary bandits to pages with that discussion?

Hello and Good Day: Lackluster Section - "List of American prison gangs"[edit]

Once again: Hello. I just would like to bring up some concerns I had with this article, but it's just one area in particle. This Section seems to contain a various items on it that don't really have citations (or maybe it just isn't linked properly). I don't mean to be rude; it's not that big a deal. Where I see progress being made is on items like: "Brotherhood of Aryan Alliance (a. k. a. the "211's") [11]" where not much is mentioned at all. I believe the "[11]" is referring to "The Danger of Dungeons: Prison Gangs and Incarcerated Militant Groups. Small Arms Survey, Chapter 6". If a contributer combed through it, I believe the list would have a lot positive qualities expanded on. I don't have much experience with things like this, but wouldn't mind helping where I can.
