A lot of informations for ... near to nothing. We don't know after a look on this article what really is DXF? 2D, 3D , 4D format ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.127.116.11 (talk) 13:56, 20 March 2015 (UTC) There is two pages of the same subject, i.e. DXF and AutoCAD DXF; is this a mistake? --NEWUSER 04:20, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Could we add a list of programs that support DXF?
- Probably not. It stores vector graphics. I have never seen a lossy vector graphics file format. --Ysangkok 20:29, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- DXF coordiantes are always without dimensions so that the reader or user needs to know the drawing unit or has to extract it from the textual comments in the sheets. If you only have the file and cannot ask the creator, you only can guess the coordinates unit. This is incredible for a current CAD exchange format!?! --18.104.22.168 (talk) 08:18, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Surfaces, vs Solids vs Polygons for 3D exchange?
This entry would be slightly more useful if it commented upon the types of data that were carried over and the types not carried over to other applications using the DXF format. While polygons are relatively easy to transfer, what about Surfaces and Solids? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 22.214.171.124 (talk) 16:32, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
As I've seen today, OOo can open dxf. Since I use 3.1, I don't know about older versions. I haven't tried to modify, save, export or create it. If somebody thinks it would be important to add version information, feel free. --RalpH himself (talk) 22:33, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Software that supports DXF?
This section isn't very usefulAutoCAD DXF#Software that supports DXF, being a large unorganized list of software packages, and without any explanation what degrees of support is available. import vs export, 2D vs 3D. I moved list the list below. Perhaps a table version can put back into the article, with notes or columns representing the quality of support OR possibly grouped by types of support?. - I agree, and I wouldn't miss the list if it went missing from the talk page either. +mt 00:09, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
