There is obviously no consensus primary topic for "Republic of Taiwan"[edit]

The original authors of this article had the right idea, back in July 2003:

The Republic of Taiwan can refer to two different concepts.

One is short lived republic that existed on Taiwan between the removal of Qing forces and the establishment of Japanese control of the island in 1895.

The second refers to a goal of Taiwan independence in creating a Taiwanese state separate from China, covering the areas currently controlled by the Republic of China.

I'm making this a disambiguation page, as there is no consensus on which of these two is the WP:primary topic. – wbm1058 (talk) 20:01, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Content merged and copied[edit]

I propose Republic of Taiwan be merged in to this article. "Republic of Taiwan" is only a proposed name and its basically the same concept anyway. TomCat4680 (talk) 15:55, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. "Republic of Taiwan" is definitely a subset of and overlaps substantially with "Taiwan independence". "Republic of Taiwan" has very few sources and just having an article at that title is confusing. Quigley (talk) 16:36, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
