Name Origin[edit]

Untitled[edit]

I can't find any links confirming this at the moment, but I know I've read before that the Regis were named in honor of Reggie Fils-Aime (current President of NoA, previously public spokesperson). Is anyone else familiar with this?

This article claims that Regi is the Japanese word for "king". However, I'm not sure if this is correct, as that isn't the Japanese word that I happen to know for "king".

Alternately, I would think that this comes from Latin, "regis" meaning royal or kingly.

Android/Robot[edit]

I have changed the comments on the description of each of the Regis looking like androids, to robots. I made this choice by the simple fact that the word "android" implies that they somehow look strikingly human. The Regis do not, by any means, look like humans. I know what you mean but the regis are partially humanoid. They have arms, legs, bodies, etc. Whether the regis robot look-a-likes or android look-a-like is something that is often debated over.

If "Regirock's anatomy consists entirely of rocks and stones", then how can it be a "Fictional robot"? (described on the Robot article as an "electro-mechanical device that can perform autonomous or preprogrammed tasks") --Izwzyzx 22:30, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

レジ (Regi)[edit]

The name should come from "resist" instead of "regis" or whatever it is. The name is in Japanese, so it would be natural for them to use a word that an average Japanese would know, instead of some Latin word which not much people understand. Unless there is some evidence from the game/official website saying otherwise, it should be changed to "resist". Louis 06:27, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
