Who wrote the above? I disagree with most of it. (1) Yes, Johan Bernhard Hjort (1895-1969) was a member of the (perfectly legal) Nasjonal Samling party from 1933 to 1937, when he broke with Quisling. (2) He was arrested by Gestapo in 1941 and sent to Germany, where he after leaving prison carried out important resistance work, contributing to the saving of many Scandinavian lives. (3) After the war he fought for the artistic freedom of controversial artists and for the natural legal rights of homosexuals. (4) "Riksmålsforeningen" was not right-wing in any political sense of the word, and they did not at all oppose "nynorsk", which, incidentally, does not make any claim of being "the real national language". Hjort's fight was for free evolution of the Norwegian language, as opposed to state-controlled artificial restrictions on its use.(5) Hjort was neither nazi nor particularly anti-national. It seems that in this article, Hjort gets away scot free on his anti-semitic attitudes and his status as a founding member of NS second only to Quisling himself. Hjort was hirdleader! Be aware that Quisling called Hjort's group as representing a dangerous right-wing branch of national socialism, either from opinion or propaganda. Fallout from NS with Ragnarok magazine was partly due to Ragnarok circle's 'militant anti-christianism'. Hero-worship this bloke all you want, it doesn't change that there were homosexuals among the racist brownshirts, nor does it change that he had some despicable remarks on jews, the soviet "race" and nynorsk users. It's also odd how norges-lexi casually mentions his ties to German national socialism as brother in law (through his sisters) of two national socialist ideologists. You would think a politically acceptable democrat and minority-champion would be ostracised from such a family. Hjort argued for bookburnings of samnorsk-books while he led riksmålsforbundet. --Krekling (talk) 21:48, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
