POV on dual titles[edit]

To the user who changed my rewrite on the dual titles: you put back the POV that I had removed. I don't mind you changing another person's style (because I could do the same), but please be aware that when you write that the French title is a word play on the English title, you are implying that the English title is the first/original and the French title is the translation/derivative.

I did not write that. Nor did I imply it.

Both versions state that the French title involves word play between the homophones "les chants magnetiques" and "les champs magnetiques". They do not say that either of these comes from the English title.

I believe you misunderstood this sentence; "Literally translated it means "Magnetic Songs" or "Magnetic Singing"". This does not mean that it was derived from English. The sentence is an aid for those who are not fluent in French.

Either that is a fact or you have to admit the contrary is also possible.

Actually, I think it's more probable that the French version came first.

Wow... that's condescending, patronising and almost racist. Then again, it was based on your misunderstanding; I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

Would it correct to call the page "Magnetic Fields" i wonder? I own the album and of coure it has an English title, the only time the French would be used would be of course in Frnace, (or on the French Wiki) also "Waiting for Cousteau" is listed in the Englist page as "En attendant Cousteau" whcih again is the French version, but if you buy the English version of the CD, it is called "Waiting for Cousteau". Ijustwannabeawinner – the live album The Concerts in China has an English title, as does Music for Supermarkets, although as only one copy was ever made of this album, arguing over its title may be a little pointless. You might have a point about Magnetic Fields and Waiting for Cousteau, though... this is the English Wikipedia, and the common English titles should probably be used. Fair use rationale for Image:Magnetic Fields Jarre Album.jpg[edit]

Image:Magnetic Fields Jarre Album.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Title Section[edit]

When are we going to remove the 'citation needed' nonsense from the Title section? I just finished reading a dreary, acidic argument about it here and honestly it wasn't worth the time. For over forty years, I and many others have been well aware of the album's rather clever French pun, as avid Jarre fans in England knew what it was called in France. Not being able to find this 'fact' set in stone in a citable publication is like having to explain a joke that is self-evident.
