Comments[edit]

I just removed this:

"The 50 Broad Street shop, traditionally known as the Big House, is a bit rubbish now."

This bald statement is POV. Some explanation and justification should be given for such a claim. Molinari 00:10, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Fantasy & SF Stores[edit]

The article says that one of Blackwell's specialist shops sells F&SF. I can't find any mention of this on their website. Can anyone confirm? Rojomoke 14:30, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe it's the Reading store, the manager there is a bit of a SciFi nut Jenny 11:40, 2 February 2007 (UTC) (Blackwell employee)[reply]
  • The Reading store has now closed, so I'm removing the reference to specialist fantasy & SF stores. Rojomoke (talk) 17:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blackwell - Wiley[edit]

I've noticed that Amazon (U.S.) has changed "Blackwell" to "Blackwell-Wiley." Should this article be renamed? 70.131.131.41 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 05:38, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both the web site and the stores are still trading as just "Blackwell's", so I would say not. Rojomoke (talk) 11:30, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably thinking about Blackwell Publishing, which is a defunct publishing company formerly owned by the same family, but now an imprint of Wiley. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 16:34, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blackwell UKBlackwell's – While "Blackwell UK" is the official company name, as per WP:COMMONNAME the article would be better situated at 'Blackwell's" as this is the trading name as used in their logo, website etc. Jellyman (talk) 21:22, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A quick look at their website confirms that this would be a sensible move BeckySharpp (talk) 13:01, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Still an academic bookstore?[edit]

While it does have academic books, its website frontpage lists more or less all popular fiction. - 73.88.59.121 (talk) 16:54, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have not been to the Oxford shop for a long time. Then the ground floor was popular books, but the basement was where undergraduates bought the books they needed for their study. I doubt it has changed. Blackwells have opened shops elsewhere, and the London shop has more popular fiction although it also serves part of London Universiy. --Bduke (talk) 23:21, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
