Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 27 March 2023[edit]

Hello,

Please change “Sanaag is a region of northeastern Somaliland” to “Sanaag is a region of Somalia”. A search into Google map or UN or other credible sources can prove Somalia’s sovereignty.

The description of Sanaag region as provided in this article is highly inaccurate and promotes only the Somaliland version. To be objective, please allow others to edit and provide enough credible citation for each statement.

Sanaag is a region of Somalia, a sovereign state recognized by the United Nations. Somaliland was founded by former rebel group leaders aspiring to dismember the country. No single country recognizes its unilateral claim to statehood. That is a fact. Second, with respect to who controls the region, except for Elafwayn, the rest of the official districts: Erigavo, Badhan, Dhahar, and Las Qoray are self-administered by the Warsangali, a major clan that helped establish Puntland, a federal member state of Somalia.

See this report https://www.fao.org/3/ae507e/ae507e.pdf

In sum, the Wiki article is far from the truth. It seems intended to promote a political objective and that is secession. Somaliland promotes lies and fabrications about this region to hoodwink unsuspecting foreigners or international aid agencies.

Please revise.

Dear Wiki team,

Just wanted to make sure that its clear Sanaag is under the Somalia Government and has no affiliation with both Puntland and Somaliland. As its still desputed can we change the documentation. Also the land belongs to the Warsangeli Sultanate, as documented by the British.

Kind Regards, Mona

Sanaag, officially "The Egyptian State of Sanaag," per July 15, 2021 constitution of the State. 198.153.9.213 (talk) 14:04, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: why would a region in Somaliland call itself an Egyptian state?   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 14:57, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The dispute is against Somalia, not puntland only. Puntland is apart of Somalia. Dervish10 (talk) 19:56, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's already described as a "Federal Member State of Somalia". M.Bitton (talk) 13:11, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
