This article should make note of some milestones in the development of the Linux kernel, like when it first became portable across architectures (the Alpha port), when it first supported SMP, and so on. -- Khym Chanur 02:32, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)

That 2.2 was "very buggy at first" is news to me. Can we be more specific, or have a reference to a review, or a list of problems, or something like that? (Not that I doubt it, but it seems odd to see that phrase there. Buggy compared to 2.4? 2.0? 0.01? Windows 98?)

It might also be useful to include a comment about the "lines of code" column. AFAICT, the guts of the kernel haven't gotten that much bigger. The size increase is due mostly to (1) a lot more drivers for a lot more devices, and (2) more comments and documentation. Or so they say. I'll let somebody who knows better than me write that, though.
