Untitled[edit]

This town has been confused with Saint-Briac, which is a different place altogether. Kerry and Lalonde are associoated with Saint-Briac, not Saint-Brieuc.

From what I can tell (sadly, I can't read French), Saint Briac is a small community located within Saint-Brieuc, which encompasses a number of communities (I think it is very roughly analogous to the County level in the U.S.). It seems that Brice Lalonde is mayor of the smaller Saint Briac. Here are several English-language links that I've found informative. I've no time to make the updates to the various articles myself right now. olderwiser 15:14, 17 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

  • Site for Saint Briac, including an interactive map: [1];
  • a blog with transcription of French news report indicating that Lalonde is mayor of St. Briac-sur-Mer [2];
  • the French Wikipidia article on Saint Briac: [3]; (anyone able to tranlate?)
  • another press report about Kerry's connection with the place: [4];
  • A map showing the larger Saint-Brieuc[5]--the smaller Saint Briac is not shown, but I believe it is almost due north of Dinan (at least as shown on this map).
  • And another map showing the larger Saint-Brieuc in relation to other parts of Brittany (or Bretagne).[6]
Saint-Brieuc and Saint-Briac-sur-Mer are completely distinct places. They share not much in common, except the fact that they are both in Brittany. In fact they both belong to different départements. The Lalonde/Kerry thing is related to Saint-Briac-sur-Mer. I have moved the content there. olivier 10:03, May 18, 2004 (UTC)
Saint Briac is located in the department Ille-et-Vilaine, according to its French article. Definitely a different place. The Jade Knight 09:03, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
