Image deletion warning The image Image:TaftAT.jpg has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it will be deleted. If you have any information on the source or licensing of this image, please go there to provide the necessary information.

Hi Aubin,

The article at Nicholas Stern (Titan Eagle) was deleted according to our deletion policy, and if it's re-created, it will be deleted again. If you want to change that, you may ask for the article to be un-deleted at Wikipedia:Votes for undeletion. Eugene van der Pijll 20:30, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

As the page is deleted again now, how is it that I can place it under a vote for un-deletion when there is no page to un-delete? Aubin

Although the page is deleted, the content is not really gone. Administrators can still recover the text of the deleted page. So you can just tell the undeletion people the title of the page, and if they decide to undelete it, the article will be restored. Eugene van der Pijll 20:44, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thank you Eugene. Aubin 21:06, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Googling[edit]

Yes — though I don't deny that Googling (especially if supplemented by other search engines) can provide part of the picture, I'm amazed that some people think that it says all that needs to be said. It's as if they think that there's no world outside the Internet (I don't know — maybe they do think that). Another problem, though, is the double standards that operate here; only articles on people have to jump the very high "notability" hurdle. I've been doing my little bit to argue against that; perhaps eventually it will change. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 14:04, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Cotten.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cotten.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. Thanks for uploading Image:63985786 l.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Image Tagging for Image:Byrnes.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Byrnes.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days.

Oxes[edit]

Hi there - yes, I know OXES was not finished. There was another Wikipedian who requested it to be speedily deleted, which I declined. Just keep working on the article. If the article gets deleted by the AfD, I'll undelete it for you and put it as a subpage of your userspace so you can work on it a bit more before moving it back into the main namespace. However, I think it is pretty hard to find information about the group, but we'll see. --HappyCamper 20:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oxes (again)[edit]

I was quite surprised to see the page nominated too but there's been a rash of these lately = people who think that WP:MUSIC can be interpreted as "delete everything I've never heard of". The main thing is to make sure that any original article satisfies at least one requirement of that policy in its first incarnation; I've seen articles go up for deletion within 10 minutes of being uploaded. AfDs are usually reviewed about a week from being nominated, unless a speedy delete is appropriate. Ac@osr 08:54, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Theres no way to change anything even if I wanted to as a result of being "blocked". Aubin 10:20, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As the unblock tag you've posted says " If the block message says that your IP address is blocked or that your IP address was recently used by a blocked user, please paste the block message or post your IP address below as we have no way of unblocking you if your username itself was not blocked.". Orphaned non-free media (Image:B000777J3M.01. SS500 SCLZZZZZZZ .jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:B000777J3M.01. SS500 SCLZZZZZZZ .jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:32, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Oxes-page-top.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Oxes-page-top.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:04, 24 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 16:04, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pigskin Politics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable idiom.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fair use rationale for File:Jackmercer.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jackmercer.jpg. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons[edit]

Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
