Filter programs[edit]

"Filter program" is a Unix-specific concept with a technical definition; perhaps the page should be renamed "Filter (Unix)".

Pherhaps there should be a separate page, e.g. "Filter (software)" for non-Unix filters such as mail filter, printer filter, spam filter, etc. however only the first of these exists at present... Jorge Stolfi 00:51, 9 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Image processing[edit]

I suggest that there should be an entry for "filtering" as used in the image processing field (the entries for "optics" and "software" do not seem to fit). Unsigned contribution by User:Mwtoews, 04:41, 10 July 2009.User:142.92.160.16, 17:45, 19 June 2006

You have it the wrong way round, an article needs to exist first before a subject if given an entry on a dab page. We have Bayer filter but I cannot find a general article on filter (image processing). If there is one, then by all means add it to the page. SpinningSpark 17:53, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
How did I ask that question? +mt 23:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake, I thought it was a new post for some reason. SpinningSpark 08:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No pipe[edit]

User:Spinningspark we don't pipe entries per MOS:DABENTRY so please don't repeat this bad entry style [1]. Widefox; talk 21:03, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, but what you had done was to remove the word filter from the entry, which made the reason for the entry here unintelligible. Usefullness to the reader is more important than officious compliance with guideline smallprint. You might want to avoid that bad entry style in future.
