Making new pages about the Shire[edit]

Which reference am I supposed to use?

For right now I am using the "List of Localities".

This list doesn't have some of the suburbs, like Arthurs Seat.

If you make a page about a suburb not listed on either List of Localities or the shire council, add a link to your page under the relevant council heading...

List of councillors: this list is hopelessly out of date. Martin retired in 2014. 122.111.12.3 (talk) 01:18, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Towns[edit]

Are all of the places listed here suburbs, or are some of them towns? I don't think Red Hill is considered a suburb. Somebody in the WWW 05:45, 10 Jan 2005 (UTC) The Mornington Peninsula Council site, to which there is a link, names all the localities. Agreed, many are localities and not towns per se but they have postcodes. Dennis 17:40 15 Feb 2005 (AEST)

Anything recognised by the Gazetteer of Australia as a bounded (i.e. official gazetted) locality (LOCB). Orderinchaos78 03:22, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Map[edit]

Someone needs desperately to change the map image for The Mornington Peninsula. It doesn't even show the peninsula but instead shows the inner suburbs with a cut-off section of the far north. It is ridiculous! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.87.16.128 (talkcontribs)

I agree and I've removed it. That map shows the Melbourne metro area and the top of the Mornington Peninsula but the bulk of the MP is cut off. It is potentially very confusing given the article lists suburbs like Sorrento, Portsea, Blairgowrie and Rye, which are at the very southern end of the peninsula. Whoever thinks they fixed the Map for Mornington Peninsula has not actually fixed it. It still cuts off most of the shire! 120.148.253.163 (talk) 10:54, 15 March 2015 (UTC)gus[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mornpen.gif[edit]

Image:Mornpen.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:47, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
