School stubs and Edu Stubs[edit]

Hi! On my talk page you wrote: How do people distinguish between a school stub and an edu stub?

  • Being fairly new to Wikipedia, that's not something that I've ever tried to do. Many of the stub categories have some overlap, so I just put articles into the most specific category that fits. At Wikipedia:Stub_categories it says that Edu-stub is for universities and School-stub is for schools. Being English my interpretation is to reserve School-stub for high schools. I realise that many people use the term school to refer to universities too, so in this case School-stub would fit OK but Edu-stub is more specific. JeremyA 16:17, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Willison[edit]

Chapel[edit]

Thanks for the note. Yeah, it seems that the whole thing revolved around how "nonconformist" was understood differently — due to the Catholic overtone, I was't sure if it was used disparagingly or not. Thanks for the clarification. Maybe the best thing to do would be to revert back to the original sentence you wrote, but with either a different word or some sort of brief explanatory phrase for those unfamiliar with English ecclesiastical relationships. The Clapham Sect[edit]

I don't know of Daniel Wilson being a member of the Clapham sect, although it is not beyond the bounds of possibility, looking at his biography. He certainly may have known Beilby Porteus, Bishop of London - who took an active interest in the establishment of the Anglican Church in the colonies (in fact, this was part of his charge), which may have included an interest in India. I will look into this further - I am writing a paper on Bishop Porteus' Life and Times, and have access to much material - and am in touch with others who have written on him.

William_Wilberforce certainly had some involvement in the foundation of the church in India, and possibly the creation of the Diocese of Calcutta (see the article), but I am looking into the possibility of Wilson also having been involved, and have referred the original question to a researcher who may know more.

I've had a response to my enquiry about Daniel Wilson and the Clapham Sect. I enclose the salient points from the response of my correspondent:
Re Bishop Wilson. Bishop Wilson was one of the Evangelical Chaplains who was sent to India with the support of the Claphamites. All of the early Anglican chaplains were evangelicals. Professor Walls has always argued that we need a work on the influence of Charles Simeon on both the Evangelicals in England and the Evangelicals on the mission field. The only work that gives some clues to this is the book by Michael Hennell, whose main work is 'John Venn and the Clapham Sect'.
Walls thinks that this work is one of the most influential works to be written on the modern missionary movement, evangelicals within the Church of England and the use by evangelicals of ministerial societies... Hennell also wrote 'Sons of the Prophets' (it covers some of the second generation evangelicals) and Walls is of the view that this goes some way to providing an insight into Simeon's influence...
Stephen Neill, in his 'History of Christian Missions' has only a single line to say on the work of the early evangelical chaplains and I know that he has been criticised for this. He was working on a revision of his work when he died and so I have no idea whether he expanded on the work that they did.
So it fair to say that Wilson was an evangelical, that he enjoyed the support of the Clapham Sect but that he was not a member of the Clapham Sect. It would also be fair to say that Simeon was the backbone of his support team.

re. Whitefield's Tabernacle, Kingswood[edit]

Hi, I'm afraid I don't have any photos, and I'm currently in London. The only real reason I edited this article was that I came across Category:Grade I listed buildings and User:Rbrwr/Grade I listed buildings in Bristol, and decided to categorise any in Rbrwr's list that weren't already in the cat. Bristol Community Church[edit]

Generally speaking, you can remove any non-deletion tag from an article, as long as you make a good-faith effort to fix the problem the tag addressed, which you have certainly done here, so I have nothing to say but nice work! Articles need to cite sources, even if it's just a webpage, to have credibility. Personally I just added it to the Kingswood, South Gloucestershire page because A) I felt it was relevent and B) The article was an orphan, meaning that no pages linked to it. The more relavent pages that link to an article, the better an article can be, in my opinion. --W.marsh 16:49, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Free Presbyterian Church[edit]

But it is a dab page. And the format you've reverted to makes it much harder for anyone to figure out which page they're actually looking for. For the articles that already have been written, the information on that page is redudant. For those that haven't been written yet, perhaps that information should simply be used to start the articles so it can be removed from the dab page immediately. The page is clearly a dab, with or without the tag you've removed. I do not reformat as a bureaucratic exercise, but to make the encyclopedia easier to use for the reader. Commonwealth: My source at Cambridge told me the Letters Patent does not have any effect in the Commonwealth.

NI: My source also told the Letters Patent are written for the world as it existed in 1611, so (Northern) Ireland isn't included.

Image copyright problem with Image:Marylp00.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Marylp00.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Bas Jan Ader's Parents[edit]

I'm pretty certain he was, as you say, the son of Rev Bastiaan Jan Ader. What I know of Bas Jan Ader the artist is that his father was a clergyman, and that he was from Nieuw-Beerta. If you take those words for facts, i guess that would make it pretty conclusive.

Anglican Saints[edit]

Peter, I am no expert on Anglican Saints. Many have been added to various calendars, official and unofficial, of various churches of the Anglican Communion. As I understand it, two were declared to be saints and martyrs by the synod of Westminster. They were King Charles and King Louis of France. Dispute - James Carlile .... ummm[edit]

Hi, thanks for your note. I think you may have diificulty with your dispute insomuch as I just looked at the sources and wrote what I thought was there. I have no private agenda so if I have made a mistake then please correct it, thats how it improves I hope. You appear to have a church related background - my interest was only intrigued by him appearing in a painting of a conference that I wanted to know more about. School projectr is very active, education less so (personal opinions only). A school needs a school template ... it doesnt really need an education one too.
