Local Pronunciation of St. Botolph's name[edit]

Regardless what may be the "correct" pronounciation of this saint's name, here in Boston, Massachusetts it's pronounced "boTOLPH." I was in Boston, Lincolnshire a few years ago and do not recall hearing mention of "BOtolph."

In the UK, the stress is indeed on the first syllable: BOtolph. You Americans have difficulty with the name 'Bernard' as well. 219.113.255.196 (talk) 04:59, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name of article[edit]

Why is this article headed 'Botwulf of Thorney'? He is generally known by the name Botolph (stressed on the first syllable) as references in the article show.Costesseyboy (talk) 00:29, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article title[edit]

Following a bold move by Lyndon George to Saint Botolph and an objection by Ortizesp on WP:RMTR (permalink) I moved this to Botolph of Thorney as a compromise title (since Botolph does seem to be much more common than Botwulf). Should anyone disagree, please open a formal RM. Thanks. No such user (talk) 12:48, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
