Re: Cleanup[edit]

Large blocks of unparagraphed text = incomprehensible - SoM 23:12, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Tallus, which is a key plot tool, should be at the start of the article. Anyone not familiar with Exiles has to wonder, "How do they know what to do?" Secondly the Time broker/breaker should be clarified in the article not the discussion page. This article needs to be organized. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.15.7.70 (talk) 15:54, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Red Ronin[edit]

I haven't read any Exiles, so I'm not sure what the version of Red Ronin that appeared actually looked like. It may very well have looked like a Zord from Power Rangers, so I haven't changed that part.

However, my guess is that RR in Exiles looks just like the original from the 1980's, and so isn't based on a Zord at all, but rather more vaguely on Japanese giant robots in general.

If anyone can check, that would be grand.

Kelvingreen 03:47, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did not read any Exiles either, so I can't help in that regard. However, it can be helpful to check this profile on the Earth-616 version of Red Ronin: http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix2/redroninrobot.htm Luis Dantas 15:51, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He looks like the regular Red Roning. This trivia section is full of erroneous, redundant, non-triva, and really unimportant information. I am weeding it down. --Chris Griswold 15:57, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goofs Section[edit]

This thing has mostly got to go. It just seems not to be very informative, giving questions rather than answers. Please come up with an alternative to deletion, or I will be removing this very soon. --Chris Griswold 21:21, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely agree. either seperate the goofs from the trivia and make two sections, or delete the goofs and leave the genuine trivia.--Rosicrucian 15:27, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Issue list[edit]

The issue list takes up a lot of space and is kind of useless. I call for its deletion, or at the very least a minimization into a listing of storylines. --Chris Griswold 16:09, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that. Maybe have just a list of comics the Exiles have been in, besides their own. Otherwise its just too much clutter. --Hellmark 06:11, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article Linking[edit]

I'm going through and linking the different things to their proper articles. Also, Tallus links to the Exiles article, yet has no mention of what the tallus is, as well as linking to tallus for a never ending loop. I fixed that, sorta. Since the tallus isn't a major thing to deserve its own article, I have it as a subpage, and set the redirects to goto that spot on this article. --Hellmark 05:24, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloudland_Canyon_State_Park there is a geological formation called a 'tallus'. It now links here. Should there be a disambiguation page? 193.34.186.119 (talk) 14:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The name isn't right. They mean "talus" (one l) which should probably be piped as a link to scree (or start "talus (landform)", "talus (geography)" and redirect it to scree). There is only one tallus (two ls) and there is a disambiguation page at the correct spelling: talus. (Emperor (talk) 15:47, 17 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

The first comic book published by Marvel with the Exiles title was the "All-New Exiles" created after Marvel purchased Malibu comics in 1995. Like all subsequent Marvel Exiles titles the comic featured characters in a reality outside of Marvel (earth 616) continuity- in this case Juggernaut was introduced to a team of heroes in the Ultraverse. I suggest this article be combined with the article Exiles (Malibu Comics) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exiles_(Malibu_Comics) because of it's contextual relevance to the Exiles re-imagining of 2001, listed erroneously in this article as the first Marvel Exiles publication. Current Membership (as of 10th May 2006)[edit]

Should Heather Hudson be added to current team roster? Although not an active field agent, Heather does help co-ordinate the teams actions via the tallus and is monitoring the other realities. Scarlettspiderg 15:22, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell! Psylocke IS joining! Whoever deleted it is full of shit.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.188.117.5 (talkcontribs) 15:46, June 12, 2006

I didn't remove it, but can you please cite yuor source, particularly in light of the changes in Claremont's taking over? --Chris Griswold 20:15, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think Header is a current member of the Exiles so I hope u can add her to team roster.--Rainhio 10:07, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Separate Articles for Other Exiles[edit]

Since the other Exiles have nothing to do with the main subject except a similarity of titles they should have separate articles and should only be mentioned in the current article.

Yeah, I agree. Probably do it soon unless someone else beats me to it. Originalsinner 09:32, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree. Luis Dantas 14:06, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On the other hand, having no mention at all is going a bit too far to the other extreme. Luis Dantas 20:10, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what i think should be cleaned up[edit]

well this is just a list of things that i think are wrong with the article. the wolverine that appears in the days from future past storyline also appears in the Earth X series does he not shouldnt that be mentioned? also i think the list of charcters that are classed as recurring is not needed as many of them are not recuring and hardly seen more then two or three issues. however i do think the timebreakers should be included in the list as well as the timebroker.

Clarification on Timebreakers[edit]

I assumed the term "Timebreaker" was a mistake for "Timebroker" as I started reading, since it was introduced without discussion. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the series could insert a quick note when the word first occurs. Also, the Recurring Characters table at the bottom of the page mentions that they are in a "Crystal Palace" which is a term that isn't defined in the main text (only in the sidebar summary); I included a parenthetical comment in the main body to make the definition.

well i added the timebreakers section to the recurring charcters section. if you are wanting more information on them please check out there wiki article.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timebreakers

the term timebreaker was first used by a Celestrial in the story arc that involves ego the liveing planet. blink is rescued by the celestrial who gives her the warning " beware the timebreakers". the term timebreakers was next used to comment as the name of the story arc in which the exiles discover the truth about the timebroker. also i have no objection to the use of the term crystal palace. as if you where to use the correct term then you would have to define what it means.--Dr noire 17:02, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Power Princess / Psylocke[edit]

The current article (4th November 2006) says that Power Princess will be replaced by Psylocke in issue 90 of Exiles. It cites Marvel.com's online catalog as a reference. I've checked the online synopsis/preview for issue 90, it says Psylocke will be appearing but doesnt mention her replacing Power Princess. Heres a link to the issue: http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?book_id=5806 on Marvel.Com's online catalog. I've also checked the Mike Marts interview that the psylocke page refers to (http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/article/showquestion.asp?faq=11&fldAuto=283), that doesnt mention Psylocke replacing Power Princess either.

I'm going to remove the piece saying Psylocke will be replacing Power Princess, if readded please can we cite the source of the info. Thank you. Scarlettspiderg 20:27, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spider-Man 2099[edit]

Technically, Miguel O'Hara's alter-ego is Spider-Man, not Spider-Man 2099. I think that the description that he is from the 2099 reality is distinction enough.--RedKnight 15:19, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah but if you look in the first issue of Spider-Man 2099 on page 17, they show a scientist guy holding up a picture of Spider-Man and showing it to O'Hara. Then he says, "His name was Spider-Man. One of the premier boys from the old heroic age 'round the turn of the century." He can't be the Spider-Man cuz logic would indicate that the original Spider-Man would be long dead due to old age. White_Bishop 20:45, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I believe that what "RedKnight" is saying is that Miguel's superhero name is: "Spider-Man" not "Spider-Man 2099." I do not believe that he is suggesting that Miguel is the same Spider-Man as Peter Parker. That is obviously not the case. RedKnight is merely pointing out that in conversation, you'd refer to Spider-Man as Spider-Man.
  • Technically he isn't the same Miguel/Spider-Man 2099 from the Spider-Man 2099 series, because it was only a 2099 approximation. I don't remember where I read it, but all of the places the Exiles visited on their World Tour (except the main Marvel Universe) were approximations of the originals. You can argue that they created a divergent timeline by being there or it was already separate before they got there, but in the end it doesn't matter. I think that Marvel made that distinction so that future writers could have a story set in those universes without having to worry about what happened in Exiles. That aside he is Spider-Man, not Spider-Man 2099. All of the characters in this book are from various dimensions, so it is possible to have more than one character with the same name. Take the Wolverine squad of Exiles for example. It should be noted that he is from 2099, but that's the same as noting "Spider" from the Weapon X team is an evil Spider-Man. -Freak104 13:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very true, the Exiles Spider-Man (of 2099) and the original Spider-Man (of 2099) are not the same character, but the are simply refered to as Spider-Man (without the 2099). The original Spider-Man (of 2099) calls/called Earth-928 home, while the Exiles Spider-Man (of 2099) calls/called Earth-6375 home. A similar thing happened with the New Universe during the world tour, the original being Earth-148611 and the Exiles variant being Earth-15731. And, yes, nobody refers to Miguel O'Hara as Spider-Man 2099 while in costume. He is simply Spider-Man.--RedKnight 14:28, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Magnus Redirect in Previous Notables[edit]

It seems to redirect to the wrong article. Can somebody fix this? 71.179.163.145 00:01, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Creative Staff[edit]

This article needs a proper attribution to current and past creative staff. Many books are started by one team and then continue with a changing group of writers, pencilers, colorists, etc.; this should be reflected in the article text. A suggestion would be to incorporate staffing if plot / storyline are separated into "arcs". Otherwise a separate section should be devoted. Tiredgamer 05:32, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Former main image[edit]

I like the new head image (and it is the appropriate one), but can the old main image be placed somewhere in the article itself as a thumbnail? Maybe in the 'Enter Psylocke' section. 66.189.137.113 05:58, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Exiles members[edit]

You may want to consider splitting off the member list into List of Exiles members, similar to the articles in the "Lists of Marvel characters by organization" category. 207.229.140.148 (talk) 02:23, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline[edit]

Is this comic still current... its not really clear. I think that the years (start to finish/present) should be written somewhere in the beginning of the article or in the side bar thingy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.61.35.109 (talk) 07:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How do we fix this article?[edit]

I've had a look at this article following comics on the project page and while it could be cleaned up, it's so in-universe and devoid of real world commentary and context, it might be easier to just wipe and start from scratch. suggestions? --Cameron Scott (talk) 12:20, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well wiping and starting from scratch doesn't seem very practical unless you can drop in a better article yourself. Best bet:
  • Split off the lists of members to a separate article
  • Look around for interviews with the creators and weave that into the article. There must be plenty around (I'll have a look and see what I can find) and it will add in the necessary angles on character development and the creator's motivation which should help move the article away from the in-universe style here. Again there is more than enough plot here and nothing on the out-of-universe background, which I think is the more important part (if you want the plot then you can read the comics!!).
Hope that helps. I'll do some digging and see what I can find. (Emperor (talk) 12:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]
I see my first point was raised back in April and I agree with them - should have been done a while back. (Emperor (talk) 12:58, 15 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]
One thing to bear in mind though: That "line-ups" section is horrible - it is not only repetitious but it is wider than the screen resolution on this computer which is A Bad Idea. If someone wants to keep it they need to come up with a better format - at the very least making it vertical but find a way to avoid saying the same thing over and over again (I'd suggest columns for characters and merge and shade the cells. If we keep it... (Emperor (talk) 19:40, 15 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]
OK as per the second point above I have added a number of interviews which general cover the span of the series' run and it should be possible to work content from them into the article. In addition to that I found these which I didn't want to drop straight in but could be useful:
Also lots of reviews here: Exiles, New Exiles. (Emperor (talk) 19:40, 15 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I'm sorry but I do not understand quite what this means. Could somebody please explain? 86.210.4.129 (talk) 21:11, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That was the wording used in #6 of volume 2 to explain the status of the previous team (minus Psylocke who has returned to earth-616 via The Sisterhood of Mutants). I took it to mean they were in stasis within the crystal palace's infrastructure in a similar way to how injured characters have been portrayed in previous issues in volume 1. The final roster for the team removed Blink and The Witch and added Nocturne and Scarlet Witch. This is already stated correctly in the List of Exiles characters but needs updating here.Mutant Raccoon (talk) 23:11, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: consensus not to move. There also seems to be consensus on a way forward by merging, details still to be worked out. Andrewa (talk) 07:14, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The "Exiles (Red Skull allies)" are part of Marvel Comics so their title should also reflect this. Obviously they cannot be moved to "Exiles (Marvel Comics)" since that article already exists, so the two new names should help differentiate between the two. An "Exiles (comics)" article already exists as a disambiguation page and the "Exiles (Marvel Comics)" could be turned into another disambiguation page after the move. Spidey104 14:50, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't think it is worthwhile to split information about the team from the series they were the stars of. They only made a handful of appearances outside of their own book and I think one article would be of better quality than two separate articles, especially since so much material would have to be repeated in both. Spidey104 14:01, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Then there is a potential problem with dabbing the page since it is weighted to the team not the publications. Though looking at Crazy Runner's question, maybe the answer would be to fold the villain team from Fear Itself into this article for the time being. - J Greb (talk) 14:21, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • It might not. That is a good point. Spidey104 14:01, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

J Greb makes a good point; maybe we should delete or merge the "Exiles (Red Skull allies)" article and then we wouldn't have to move the other article. But where should we merge it to? J Greb suggested "Fear Itself," but I see no mention of that in its article. Spidey104 14:32, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's my bad. I miss-skimmed the article and mentally added it to the current Marvel "event". Re-reading it "Red Skull's operatives" would be good. - J Greb (talk) 15:22, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, it could be merged with List of criminal organizations in Marvel Comics or as J Greb's suggestion "Red Skull's operatives". --Crazy runner (talk) 15:33, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I will agree with that. Spidey104 16:33, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
