From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I first started using Wikipedia via the Wiktionary while working on my dissertation dealing with an aspect of modern Japanese history. Some blessed sole uploaded what appears to be every Chinese character (Japanese: Kanji) known to man, with Chinese (various dialects), Korean, and Japanese readings. I especially needed readings and definitions of obscure characters that do not appear in Japanese character dictionaries. That aspect of Wikitionary, which is not advertised on the home page, sold me on the viability of the greater Wiki project. I now turn to Wikipedia regularly for various bits of information. I intend to write articles dealing with Japanese history and culture, Manchuria and Manchukuo, as well as railroads in Hawaii.
