I suppose it was inevitable that I show up here eventually. I like discussing obscure things, and I'm a compulsive editor. I'll try not to get carried away, but please let me know if I do. Politely.

I actually do know things about so-called "serious" subjects, but that's not as much fun to work on. ;)

What's your name again?[edit]

Okay, so my name is actually Erin. Salli is my nickname, and pretty much the only name I use online. There are lots of Erins, but not many Sallis, and especially not many who spell it the way I do.

Admittedly I didn't know Sally was short for Sarah, but I doubt it would have helped. Nicknames are like that.

Actually, while I'm on the name subject, let's get something clear. Erin is almost exclusively a girl's name, and it's a fancy word for Ireland. Aaron is almost exclusively a guy's name, from Aaron the brother of Moses. These names are in no way related. They aren't the male and female version of the same name - they don't mean the same thing, and for that matter they're from different parts of the world - and it's not my fault if people pronounce them the same way.

A few of my interests[edit]

Right now, I'm watching these articles and related subjects:

  • Elizabeth Peters - While the page for the author herself is passable, the information on specific series is just sad.
  • Patricia Wrede - My favorite fantasy auhtor deserves a nice, thorough entry.
  • Stargate - The articles on the movie and TV shows contain lots of information, and there are already dedicated people working on them, but I'm an obsessive editor and they could stand rewriting in places.
  • Rex Stout and Nero Wolfe - I ought to be able to contribute something to books that take up so much of my shelf space.
  • The Belgariad and other works by David Eddings - These articles need help, though at least there are a few of us working on them now.
  • Ballroom dance and related articles - I'm somewhere between an expert and completely uninformed. I know enough to know how much I don't know! But if articles in this section aren't accessible to me, how are they going to help anyone who isn't already well informed about the subject?

Articles I'm working on[edit]

I've done a few minor expansions to the articles on Elizabeth Peters and Patricia Wrede, and Nero Wolfe.

I've also started setting up shop in the Stargate area, particularly the Stargate SG-1 article, which I intend to polish 'till it shines. Which is harder than it sounds because 1- I'm a perfectionist (I went through the first few paragraphs and already have a few sentences mentally tagged for future improvement) and 2- there's a lot of technical and military stuff that I'm not informed about or interested in, so I have to inquire before removing excess verbiage and detangling convoluted sentences.

More recently, I tried to bring order to The Belgariad, and began dabbling in the linked articles. My inner grammar policeperson is dying to get into that stuff.
