Abbreviations & Amerikanisms[edit]

If they're THE Incredible String Band and not "the Incredible String Band" and you eejits understand so little grammar to know what an "article" is, then why isn't the acronym "TISB"? Get a clue. You've infected enough of the world already. Be gone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.255.61.7 (talkcontribs) 10:03, 6 July 2011

Is that meant to be a suggestion that the article be moved to Incredible String Band? Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:53, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Scientology[edit]

The article Changing Horses says, Williamson and Heron became members of Scientology. Are they still? And if not, when did they quit? --141.15.30.1 (talk) 09:18, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Heron has stated that he was "completely out" of Scientology by 1996. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:30, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About the Legacy[edit]

"In 1994 Rose Simpson, a former member of the band, became Lady Mayoress of Aberystwyth.[citation needed]" Is there any reason this is still here? Even if there was a source cited, it would still have nothing to do with the band's musical legacy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.70.70.27 (talk) 14:23, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's a very interesting note on their history and should be kept - not everything about them is just on music.HammerFilmFan (talk) 17:11, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Plant quote[edit]

" Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin said his group found their way by playing Hangman's and following the instructions. " - instructions? What is being referred to here? I have a lot of material on ISB and Led Zeppelin, and both Page and Plant have stated the ISB's influence on them (among many others), but this quote/statement needs some more detail. It reads as if the group got their vision from Hangman's, which of course is not true. My copy of that album - purchased in 1970 - is thick, heavy vinyl and pasted cardboard so it's a first pressing - and it didn't come with any "instructions." ?? HammerFilmFan (talk) 17:11, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, this comes from the ISB 1997 documentary "Retying the Knot," and listening to Mark Ellen in context, I understand now what the members of Zep meant. Like, cosmic, man!  :-) Anyway, at least we have a cite, now. HammerFilmFan (talk) 04:23, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Most celebrated albums?[edit]

The article says that the two albums following '5000 Spirits' were the ISB's 'most celebrated'. From my very distant memory of the time, when I was a teenager, I'm not sure about that. I thought 5000 Spirits was the undisputed masterpiece, while the next two were controversial, with many people finding them self-indulgent and relatively tuneless. I must give them another listen.86.183.206.188 (talk) 10:04, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My memories are that 5000 Spirits and Hangman's were seen at the time as their masterpieces - preferences between them varied, though I'd vote for Hangman's - and Wee Tam and the Big Huge was seen as somewhat indulgent - though I've seen at least one review more recently that sees WT&BH as their masterpiece. But, we need to go with what reliable sources say. Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:58, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pimping, Self-Aggrandising[edit]

This 'piece' is very puerile. Stick to WP norms please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.96.53.232 (talkcontribs) 19:39, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Everything's fine right now. You see what you see, you see seldom what is. You know what you could be? You could become an editor who sorts it out for themselves. Maybe someday? It's the never-realised question. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:54, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
