First Artificial Vacuum?[edit]

Surely von Guericke was preceded by Evangelista Torricelli in 1643? While Torricelli did not invent a pump, he did demonstrate production of a vacuum. Was von Guericke aware of Torricelli's work? If not, what inspired him to build and demonstrate his pump? Moletrouser (talk) 14:37, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Tesla[edit]

"Method of increasing the intensity of electrical oscillations" circa 1906.

Tesla did lose a lot of early work in the lab fire, maybe this was why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.81.159.173 (talk) 05:44, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
