Spence School[edit]

The Spence School is an independent college-preparatory day school for girls in kindergarten through grade 12. 'Nuff said. --fvw* 05:05, 2004 Nov 28 (UTC)

  • Neutral: so far nothing to lift it out of the level of typical non-notable school, but I suspect that there may be much more to be said. -- Jmabel | Talk 07:19, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC) I'd have no objection to merging into somethin broader, maybe an article on NYC private day schools. -- Jmabel | Talk 02:36, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete not notable, or rather only of local notability therefore not for a worldwide encyclopedia. - Drstuey 13:08, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • I know the school well. Hmm. It's an exclusive Manhattan girl's school. There are fewer and fewer of those these days (single-sex preps are getting rare), but it's a middle school. Is it notable? Certainly it's exclusive, and exclusive on the Upper East Side is exclusive indeed. The article is better than most school blobs. Abstaining, but leaning toward delete. • Keep Schools are important historically, have significants in peoples lives, and are institutions that play an important roll in society. Why delete an article about a school. If it is not notable to a worldwide audience then why should that matter. Only the people interested in the school will likely end up encountering the article.TimMony 02:36, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. It's a school, and its sole notable point is that its very, very expensive to attend. Not exactly Eton, is it? -- GWO 10:31, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Reluctant delete. While I truly believe that Spence must be a wonderful school, and one to whom I gladly give all good wishes, this article has nothing interesting in it. I don't see anything interesting on their website either, er, besides the rosy cheeked lasses. They probably have illustrious alumni but are too modest to brag. Maybe a wikiSchool is needed, but until then this should be deleted. (though that electronic system is nifty - see article here Private Schools Throw A Fortune At New Security). • Keep. Fvw, when you list something on VfD, it's customary to give an explanation of why you're doing so. I can't tell from what you wrote what your objection to the article is. If you could elaborate on the Nuff said, I may change my vote. Factitious 10:39, Dec 3, 2004 (UTC)
