It may seem a bit trivial, but should the 'L' actually be capitalized? From a quick googling, a fair few references to the suburb show Macleod, though at least one did have MacLeod; and the train station there also has a lowercase 'l' too. The Melway shows the ward of Macleod West with the lowercase, (though the suburb name itself is all-capitals and so is useless); and the fairly encyclopedic Australian Places Gazetteer lists the lowercase name. I live in Macleod and you are right, there is no capital "L" in Macleod and the technical name is Macleod West as there is no Macleod but no one who lives in Macleod calls it Macleod West.
