Infobox incompatibility[edit]

This article can't use the standard {holmes infobox} template, because the story appears in both Memoirs and Last Bow. The template only allows for one collection per story. If the infobox design gets changed in any way, the box in the article will have to be updated by hand to reflect the new look.

The infobox has be corrected to accommodate this. – Quoth 14:18, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Stradivari reference[edit]

Perhaps should be added "The fame of Stradivari instruments is now a modern phenomenon and they appear in numerous works of fiction. The fictional detective Sherlock Holmes is described as having owned a Stradivarius, with detail given to how he purchased the instrument for fifty-five English shillings in the story The Adventure of the Cardboard Box.
