Oh crap. This sounds like the start of a political edit war over "Is Palestine a state" "Is Jerusalem Palestinian" etc. etc.

Is this bit of tinder and gasoline even needed? orthogonal 09:43, 16 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Sorry :) I saw taht the listing was missing and I put it in...can we put some sort of "status undetermined" thing to gloss over the whole thing? What about doing whatever is done with taiwan?--Mishac 11:20, 16 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, I wn't giving you the benefit of the doubt, and I was borrowing torouble. Leave it until and unless there's a [roblem otehr than me being hair-trigger. orthogonal 18:50, 16 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Definition of city[edit]

The article is a list of cities not Palestinian cities. There is no reason to remove the Israeli cities unless this article is being appropriated renamed.

Please see wiktionary Wiktionary:city or an otherwise 'external' definition of city.

The Israeli Ministry of Interior (Israel) categorization usually requires a population of about 20 000 residents, therefore the Israeli local municipalities such as Efrat and Kedumim are not relevant unless the article is likewise changed to list of municipalties... which would include towns/villages above 5000 people.

Can someone confirm the populations of the Palestinian cities? Perhaps we should attach the population numbers to each entry? I've added Salfit since I believe that about 30 000 live there. --Shuki 22:57, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Description[edit]

These parts of the current description "...the two territories that make up the Palestinian territories. The areas are occupied.." are undoubtedly POV and need to be reworded.--Shuki 22:57, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hebrew names for Arab cities[edit]

Why add Hebrew names to Arab cities? Robin Hood 1212 19:34, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We should probably remove the nonbiblical names. I was unsure what to do with names like Beit Jala and Tulkarm whose relation to Hebrew/Aramaic is made immediately obvious with the Hebrew displayed though. TewfikTalk 04:27, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rename[edit]

Should it be list of cities in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip instead? — Instantnood 20:59, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

desired capital?[edit]

I don't understand what that means. Amoruso 22:44, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Desired capital for a future Palestinian state. BTW, "Al Quds" should probably be added back, as I recall it being an English alternate on road signs when I was in Israel (correct me if I'm wrong) —Khoikhoi 22:48, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Al quds is the arabic name for the city. it's written in arabic. the english name is jerusalem written in english. the hebrew name is written in hebrew... I think that's most neat like this. see in the jerusalem article :

" Jerusalem (Hebrew: יְרוּשָׁלַיִם (help·info), Yerushaláyim or Yerushalaim; Greek: Ιεροσόλυμα, Ierosólyma or Ιερουσαλήμ, Ierousalēm; Latin: Hierosolyma; Arabic: القُدس (help·info), al-Quds; official Arabic in Israel: أورشليم, Urshalim) "

the desired capital was confusing. I thought it might relate to the desired capital of Israel. Since it's under west bank and gaza, and not under palestinian geography or so, it seems out of place. Amoruso 22:53, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps then al-Quds should be next to the Arabic as transliteration? —Khoikhoi 22:57, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
it could... but you can include a translation for all cities both in hebrew and arabic like in the full articles. congested. Amoruso 23:10, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but since East Jerusalem is still disputed, I don't think it would hurt... —Khoikhoi 00:30, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
