Talk:List of football clubs in Germany

Is "German Football League" a proper noun? It was on that assumption that I left capital letters intact when I moved this article in order to alter the inappropriate capitalization of the "t". But if this is not about teams belonging to the German Footbal League, but only about those belonging to German football leagues, then the "f" and the "l" should also be changed. Annotation of club list[edit]

Nadia, this list isn't intended to be annotated with comments about individual clubs. It's a simple look up list, that's all. Besides that, the remark was so imprecise it was of little use. Edits should be of an appropriate nature and add clear, useful information. If you want to talk about DD's history do it on the club page and make a proper job of it. Merge to Category:German football clubs?[edit]

I was thinking we might simply fold this page into Category:German football clubs. Any comment? Wiggy! 12:37, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In its current format it's not much more useful than a category, but it could be rewritten to be more descriptive, maybe grouped by division, or state. ArtVandelay13 20:20, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, my problem with the thing is that right now its essentially the same as the category, and its just too easy to add a category tag to a new article without then updating the list separately. So I'm pretty sure the list is seriously out of date right now.
I have also been relying somewhat on the existing league templates to help sort out the teams to some degree. Might be useful to improve the basic list by adding a column for federal state and league? I've always been one for simplicity, so I like simple alpha lists - it doesn't require/pre-suppose any other knowledge in order to find a club. Maybe a tour of the club lists of some other nations would be in order? As well as some work on the pages for the various tiers of German football. Wiggy! 22:03, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can use the sortable table function so that the clubs can be ordered in any way e.g.:
Name Division City State German Titles German Cups International Trophies
Bayern Munich Bundesliga Munich Bavaria 20 13 8
Rot-Weiss Essen 2. Bundesliga Essen North Rhine-Westphalia 0 0 0

  • As the article has not been improved since May 2007 and the article is no better than a category list, I have redirected to the category. This article can be recreated if improvements like the above can be made. --Deadly∀ssassin 21:03, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete Clublist[edit]

Hundred of clubs are missing...there should be only mentioned clubs, which played or are playing in the 1. or 2. Bundesliga and the defunct DDR Oberliga. This article leaves the impressions, that all clubs are listed. 88.67.219.232 (talk) 22:17, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's no attempt to create an impression that the list is comprehensive. This particular list is, in fact, rather out of date and has not been kept current of late.
There is a more complete listing at Category:German football clubs which includes most of the teams currently in the top four divisions and teams of historical note. That list is incomplete as well - that's the nature of the project, though, isn't it? The number of teams listed has grown significantly in the past year and continues to grow. It compares favourably to what's available at de:Wikipedia, although I note someone's got the notion to make entries for all the teams listed in Hardy Grune's Vereinslexikon. That's ambitious.
Other related categories include Category:East German football clubs, Category:Defunct German football clubs, and Category:German football logos. Wiggy! (talk) 03:17, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thank you very much for your answer. 22:29, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

List again[edit]

I've re-listified the page, with some inclusion criteria to separate it from the categories. It could be expanded to include all post-1994 RL teams, but I thought it best to get it up here while it's in a fairly comprehensive state. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 13:24, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
