Why write a new article when you could be adding to Jimi Hendrix? Ortolan88

I totally agree. Any information in this article that isn't in the Jimi Hendrix article should just be merged into it and this article should then be deleted. soulpatch
I tepidly disagree. Jimi Hendrix is a single person and Jimi Hendrix Experience is a group of people. If I were Chas Chandler, I would be annoyed by that. If you all wanna do it, I won't stop you -- I was just going through the list of rock and roll performers and filling empty links. Perhaps, something about this dilemna should be added to a naming conventions article, because there are quite a few that will have similar problems. Tokerboy 05:38 Nov 15, 2002 (UTC)

In that case, make this an article just on the Experience, what made it special in Hendrix's career, and then write other articles on the other bands. This is an article titled the Jimi Hendrix Experience but talking about his whole career, and with considerably less detail than in the Jimi Hendrix article.

Speaking for myself, a single article about Hendrix, detailing his musical evolution, which is what we already had, makes more sense, but this article, as it stands is about more than the Experience and should be cut back, per your theory that this band deserves special notice on its own. Describe the Experience albums in detail, tell what you can about the live show. Why did the Experience come to an end? What else did its members accomplish?

You can't just add articles willy-nilly. The whole idea of an encyclopedia is to deliver information efficiently. That means that when you add articles you should give some thought to how they fit in with existing articles. Sometimes, you need to write a bunch of little articles to hang off a big article, sometimes you need just one big article, and sometimes, you need to take existing articles and reorganize them into the right set of articles. It doesn't look to me like you gave much thought to the existing Jimi Hendrix article before you wrote this one. Well, there are bands, and then there are bands. Without Jimi Hendrix, what was the Experience? In my view, an article on the Jimi Hendrix Experience is about as warranted as an article on Big Brother and the Holding Company or an article on Wings. If there is something unique and special about the band, that's fine, but Hendrix was the focal point of that band and anything about Hendrix himself belongs in an article devoted to him. I would agree that perhaps some small article on just the band might be warranted if there really was something of value or interest about the band outside of its relationship with Jimi Hendrix. My guess is that the article would be rather small, though. soulpatch

I moved all the interesting details that didn't overlap from this article to Jimi Hendrix. Ortolan88
