Untitled[edit]

I have removed the reference to I Corps because that was a floating name, switched frequently between different combinations of units, and the 2nd AIF divisions both initally and later in the war also came under II Corps.

I suspect most Australians familiar with WW2 history would look blank when confronted by names like "I Corps" and "II Corps", although they would certainly have heard of the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Divisions, as well as many individual battalions.

The Divisional Numbering for the Second Australian Imperial Force started at 6 as the previous 5 were the divisions that served in the first AIF, not because they were militia divisions.

Wrong. It was numbered 6th because the 1st through 5th Divisions existed in the Militia. The First AIF actually had a 6th Division for a time. See Long To Benghazi, p. 43.

Tidy up & headings[edit]

I've tried to tidy it up a bit with regards to the headings. I've also changed a few words around, but shouldn't change the article too much. Are there any other ideas on the heading structure? Flipper24 (talk) 11:11, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
