Untitled[edit]

The word The is kept in newspaper titles, book titles, film titles etc if it is part of the title. Elsewhere it is dropped. Hence Prince of Wales but The Irish Times. FearÉIREANN 22:22, 7 Sep 2003 (UTC)

I'd like to point out in the books, this newspaper is refered to as the Daily Prophet rather than The Daily Prophet. While the Prophet's foil is called The Quibbler rather than the Quibbler.

The note about the Prophet's name possibly being a pun because it exists to sell itself may or may not work after my recent edits. I didn't get it myself, so I can't be sure. If it doesn't, well, please fix. -- Kizor 18:48, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

"Prophet" is pronounced the same as "profit," suggesting that the paper was created to make a "daily profit."

Thank you (yes, this was delayed). I was thinking a less benign pun about the 'selling itself' bit... *cough*
