Lap Record?

The convention is that an official lap record is set during a race - Zandvoort was last used for F1 in 1985. (Alas!) -- Ian Dalziel 23:29, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Lap record is lap record, Max Verstappen has beaten the lap record on the current circuit layout. Where did you get this 'convention' anyway? Waky86 (talk) 13:27, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

The entry in Glossary of motorsport terms says :

Lap record

Fastest race lap recorded at a circuit for a category of race car. The circumstances allowed vary significantly, but practice laps are generally not considered official records. Laps recorded in qualifying may or may not contribute but are sometimes referred together with practice laps as Qualifying lap record. The outright lap record is the fastest race lap ever recorded at any particular circuit, regardless of category of vehicle being raced.

Map not northwise

The graphics of the map of the course needs an arrow to the north. The map shows the nature about turned about 110° counterclockwise.

No, actually it does not need a north arrow. Circuit layout is more important than orientation. The majority of the world's circuits are known from maps where the pit complex is orientated towards the bottom of the page. By orienting according to north arrow we would be bucking convention.

What does a north arrow tell us about the racetrack, other than where north is? Anything? --Falcadore (talk) 12:40, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Motorcycle races

I know there are, or at least have been, motorcycle races at Zandvoort but this article doesn't seem to mention them at all. --SVTCobra 12:04, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

First year for Dutch Grand Prix in the infobox

@Island92: I agree that the first Dutch Grand Prix which counted towards the World Drivers' Championship (which is today called the Formula One World Championship) was in 1952. But it doesn't say "Formula One World Championship" in the infobox; it says "Formula One" and the first Dutch Grand Prix held to Formula One regulations was in 1950. Per my edit summaries, the convention (as demonstrated at Silverstone Circuit and Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez) is to list the first time the race was held to Formula One regulations, not the first time it was part of the World Championship.
