Nope not sad at all- I remember Timeslip from the first time around (in fact was very struck by it at 9 or 10 years old), and borrowed a friends video collection of it a few years back and was impressed at how well it held up- I was struck that for a 'childrens' drama it actualy stood up very well (unlike, say, the Tomorrow People, which upon revisting, was actually pretty naff), in fact more mature than what passes for present day 'adult' dramas. Uncannily prescient as well, with it's themes of cloning, global warming, military secrecy, etc. I might even invest in the DVD's myself! quercus robur 02:18, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

'3 points'[edit]

Three points. Simon and Liz seem to be able to travel the maybe a hundred miles between the middle of the jungle and Whitehall unbelievably quick. How? 2957 originally used a hovercraft?
Originally, instead of 1500 million gallons of water a day being pumped away from the melted ice caps, only 1200 million gallons is being pumped away. All mentions after that has it the other way round which makes more sense.
Episodes 1-7 were written by Bruce Stewart, episode 8 by Victor Pemberton.

Well, Quercus Robur, can I get you started on Timeslip's theme tune? I thought is was excellent; very dramatic, forbidding and portentous. It really set the stage for the story. Also thought The Tomorrow People's theme tune was very good, as were its opening credits. Rewrite?[edit]

Hi Joe

Just reading the TIMESLIP article and I noticed you wrote that the Traynor clone was a projection of the time-barrier - but I couldn't find any reference to this in the programme itself. Do you mind if I ask whether you deduced this or if it is explicitly asserted - I'm only interested because I'm writing an article about the series. How many bw episodes?[edit]

The article claims that only episodes 22 and 23 were shot on black and white, but I'm sure I remember the whole of the last eight episodes or so being bw. Admittedly a moot point now, I suppose. Lee M (talk) 14:40, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The source for this is an episode guide in Timescreen by Andrew Pixley who is usually a highly reliable source in these matters. Actually, rechecking the guide, episode 16 was apparently also b&w. However, the following footnote is provided in respect of episodes 24,25 and 26: "These episodes were billed as being transmitted in black and white by some regions, and it is possible that black and white copies were made for showing although the episodes were recorded in colour". According to the end credits of the Timeslip episodes released on DVD, episodes 1 - 20, and 25 - 26 are colour productions. Of the DVD series, only episode 12 (final episode of "The time of the Ice Box")is actually in colour. Apparently all colour recordings of Timeslip have been lost apart from episode 12. This is a shame as from episode 12 we can see that the set was decorated with vibrant colours that added to the enjoyment of viewing that episode. The day of the clone[edit]

I was surprised that in "The day of the clone" when Simon and Liz passed through the time barrier and ended up in Simon's house back in the year 1965, Simon did not take the opportunity to visit his mother. We learned in the very first episode of Timeslip that Simon's mother had recently died. By traveling back in time to his own home Simon had the unique opportunity of visiting his then-alive mother, something almost anyone would have done under the circumstances.
