Since this is a defined standard and the proper name of a project, it needs to be properly capitalised. (Would an admin be so kind as to fix this, please? The correct page name is taken up by a "redicet" page.) --rj 7:34, 12 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Hello. I'm not native English so I didn't changed the article, but due to a new delay, the new expected operational data is in the first quarter of 2006. Also the Testbed is going to be removed (until now it transmitted valid EGNOS signals but the satellite was rather low in horizon for western countries). I suppose the lack of information is because there are no good news, all are delays. Also, in ESA page you can read the new programme but not a word about the delay, as if the original date was 2006. This page is deprecated. It mentions that EGNOS is slated to start in the first quarter of 2006 which has passed. Needs Updation.

I pulled this sentence from the article:

EGNOS is the first stepping stone towards the European Galileo positioning system.

Galileo compatibility?[edit]

The main uncertainty (after the artificial jitter of NAVSTAR-GPS has been switched off) is the delay caused by free electrons in the ionosphere. Knowing the electron density there—this is the main content of EDNOS data—allows the receiver to correct the pseudo-ranges. This correction depends on the carrier frequency but not on whether the signal stems from a NAVSTAR or Galileo satellite. – Rainald62 (talk) 15:12, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3 or 4 satellites?[edit]
