German hip hop[edit]

Great work with the list at German hip hop! I totally agree it should be prose and the list moved to List of German hip hop artists at some point in the future. A lot of the XXish hip hop articles are nothing more than lists, probably because the contributors' English is poor or nonexistent... Anyway, thanks! Tuf-Kat 06:30, Mar 15, 2004 (UTC)

Roman Catholic Church[edit]

Hi. Please see my apology and explanation on Template:Vfd-Roman Catholic Church. Isomorphic 02:01, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Incidentally, I strongly agree with you about the need to keep Roman Catholic Church and Catholicism as separate articles, although I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of what the difference is. That's why after Snowspinner moved the content, I deleted the trailing redirect instead of changing it to point to Catholicism. I didn't want to imply they were the same thing. I did not delete any real content, as I would never do that without the VfD process - the old article is alive at Criticism of the Catholic Church. Isomorphic 02:56, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)
There isn't anything worth undeleting — I deleted a redirect, not an article. I think that your concern (that doctrine and institution should be separate) is actually somewhat misguided in the case of Catholicism. Catholic doctrine (by which I mean the doctrine of those churches in full communion with the Pope) is that the Church itself, and its traditions, are a source of spiritual authority. Not just the Pope, but the Church. I'm not sure how you could separate the religion and the organization.
My concern was that there was a failure to recognize that the Pope sits at the head of a wide variety of Churches, which fully share basic doctrine but do not share temporal organization or rituals. I'm a little fuzzy on how these churches interact or how they're organized at the highest level, but I know (for example) that the Byzantine Rite churches have their own bishops. There's a pretty decent explanation here. Isomorphic 03:58, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Welcome aboard[edit]

Hey, glad to have you on board WikiProject Critical Theory. I agree that we'll have to work closely - these topics are so damn slippery, and it's really easy to either misrepresent them or to slip into hopeless jargon. I've started up a quick introduction bit on the talk page for the project, so we can get a sense of what people's areas of focus are. Snowspinner 04:38, 22 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the help[edit]

Thank you for your help correcting pages in my list of common misspellings. To answer your question, feel free to remove pages from the list after fixing them. Wmahan. 21:35, 2004 Apr 28 (UTC)

Politics of Germany[edit]

Hi, I've seen you putting this MediaWiki:PoliticsGermany msg in a lot of articles, and I don't think it really fits. For example, in German Green Party, the box just makes a mess out of the article (and I find it particularly funny to see the Bundesadler beneth the Green Party logo, but I don't think it is adequate for an encyclopedia). In short: must this box really reside there, and be so big with Bundesadler and all? -- till we *) 13:22, 12 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your respond. The idea you sketched there sounds good, if I understand it right. Because you told about PoliticsUSA and PoliticsUK: in both cases the box is much smaller than the Germany one (120 or 150 px only). Also Kingturtle at MediaWiki talk:PoliticsUS is right: actually, it is a government box (which explains the government seals), not a politics box. Parties seem to be some borderline case ... -- till we *) 21:16, 14 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: I tidied Template:PoliticsGermany a bit, it is now a lot smaller and simpler -- maybe it could stay that way (further discussion at MediaWiki talk:PoliticsGermany?) -- till we *) 22:29, 14 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Learning Project[edit]

Hi there, since I saw you registered as a translator I would like to know if you are interested in this. I have written a program for learning vocabulary. It is based on the belief that it is best to learn foreign words by learning typical sentences. I currently have files in English, French (with sound), Spanish, and Portuguese, Catalan is in the planning. The program can also be used for learning other stuff that works with the question/answer scheme, e.g. the theory for the driving licence or anatomy. It also uses images and sound files for alternation and in order to work on the pronunciation. If you are interested please check my page and let me know. RfA[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I've been nominated for adminship status over at Wikipedia:Requests for Adminship. Since you've worked with me on a couple of articles through Wikipedia:WikiProject Critical Theory, I thought you'd probably be a particularly good person to cast a vote either for or against, so I thought I'd let you know. Back![edit]

I'm back - back in Germany (good bye America!), and moreover - back at Wikipedia. I really had to stop for a while - I was starting to get addicted. Anyway, as long as I don't overdo it, I think I can jump back into the fray. Prepare to read more of my articles again soon.... Oh, and sorry to anyone I didn't answer during my abstinence.
