In august/september 2004 summing up Wikipedias in all languages we will reach 1.000.000 articles (see [1]). We should distribute an international Wikimedia press release in as many languages as possible (more than the 500.000 release's 18). We should also use the time to clean up the introductionary stuff - especially in the little wikipedias.

If the 1.000.000th will be written around september 6-9: there is a UNESCO conference called "New ignorances, new literacies - learning to live together in a globalizing world" in Barcelona: [2] --Nichtich 15:22, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Now we're only about 3 months away from 2 million. Thats 10 months to go from 1 million to 2, something I think we should highlight. Do we have a draft started for that press release? With 3 months I would think we could get it translated into all of the top X world languages. - Taxman 13:30, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

2 million is imminent[edit]

Is this where there would be discussion about the fact that the 2 million mark for all wikipedias is imminent? Nroose 04:38, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Mark as historical?[edit]

Hasn't been updated in years.. -- œ 12:40, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, as one of the people on the list, I've archived it. -- Zanimum (talk) 01:53, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please add the following hatnote: {{For|the guideline on the use of press releases|Wikipedia:Independent sources#Press releases}}. When I searched "WP:Press releases" I was looking for Wikipedia's guideline on third-party press releases, not a historical page on press releases from Wikipedia. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 17:25, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 08:30, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Jo-Jo Eumerus. Out of curiosity, do you think full protection should remain on this page? After looking through Category:Inactive project pages, I don't see any other historical project pages under full protection, and it does not look like protection was necessary in the first place to prevent disruption. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 16:05, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No opinion - since it is a historical page, I don't see a particular reason for unprotection, either. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:51, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I created a disamb page Wikipedia:Press release, it would be useful to have a hatnote on top that links to it. Carpimaps (talk) 14:26, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
