Binary Code[edit]

Binary Code was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was redirect to ASCII.

Redundant with Binary numeral system and ASCII. Plop 12:54, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

• Redirect to Binary numeral system. The ASCII tables do not belong here, and are duplicated at Ascii. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 13:59, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
• Redirect to Binary numeral system BrokenSegue
• The current article is obviously pretty bad. And it is possible that Binary numeral system is the best place to redirect to at the moment. However, I'm not sure the concepts are synonymous. There are several binary codes that do not directly correspond to numbers, such as for example Gray code, binary coded decimal and Fibonacci code. Binary numeral system seems to focus on the positional binary system. ASCII is more of a general characters<->numbers mapping. — David Remahl 16:02, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
• Merge to relevenat articles, then redirect to Binary numeral system. In fact, that seems to be consensus, so I think I'll do just that. --L33tminion | (talk) 16:47, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)
• Looking at the article more closely, it has no origional content and is really redundant with ASCII, not Binary numeral system. Anyway, it seems more likely someone typing in Binary Code is actully looking for the ASCII code so perhaps this should redirect to that instead. I'm going to redirect to ASCII for now. --L33tminion | (talk) 16:54, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)
• I think it should be a disambiguation of sorts. — David Remahl 17:27, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
• Agreed. I'm not quite sure ASCII is the most suitable place to redirect this subject name. —RaD Man (talk) 04:41, 3 Dec 2004 (UTC)
• Then, please, make that change. I think that ASCII is the best place (using my guess of what people would be looking for typing in "Binary Code" and the original content of the article), but perhaps a disambig page would be better. I don't feel strongly about it. --L33tminion | (talk) 08:36, Dec 5, 2004 (UTC)
