The lead fails to summarize his views on race[edit]

One of the notable aspects of Jesse Helms is his incendiary rhetoric and actions on matters related to race. Yet, the lead makes no mention of the fact that the man was a race-baiter[2] and, in the eyes of many, a racist. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 03:08, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Lead notes at several points his opposition to civil rights legislation....but I take it you want something beyond that. I'd make a concrete proposal (i.e. proposed direct quote) and we'll go from there.Rja13ww33 (talk) 00:35, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you continue scrubbing the lead. Sources and discussion later in the article clearly show Helms was regarded by his peers as a staunch racist. I am undoing your scrubbing attempt. 2600:1702:5345:2010:75C0:9C71:334:E82B (talk) 21:27, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Read [3]. Just flat out calling someone a racist is a issue with MOS. (Ergo your edit will be reverted.) We can certainly note his racially charged rhetoric....but how you do it is inappropriate. Rja13ww33 (talk) 00:36, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
