"Animal families originally unique to the Palearctic ecozone include: "

Have removed 'horses' and 'cows' as these families also both occur in the Afrotropical ecozone (Zebras, African Wild Buffalo) - MPF 11:47, 6 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Map needs edit: the map is conspicuously missing the Japanese islands of Shikoku and Kyushu, which are shown as part of the Pacific Ocean. Who can fix the map? - ForbiddenEvilAnon

Zomia (geography)[edit]

Does mention of Zomia (geography) belong to this article? It is neologism for the shatter zones along the southern limit from Afghanistan to the mountains of South China.

How many?[edit]

Maybe i'm just not understanding, but Nearctic ecozone says there are nine ecozones, and Palearctic ecozone says there are eight; one of these is incorrect? Cheers, LindsayHello 08:04, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology please[edit]

Hi - why "palearctic"? Does it mean something like "old arctic"? Why? Would be nice to have this in the article please --mcld (talk) 15:03, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It refers to the "Old World" (Eastern Hemisphere), in contrast to the "New World", Nearctic of the Americas. Similar terms include Paleotropics (Old world tropics) and Neotropics.--Animalparty-- (talk) 07:52, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What's it got to do with "arctic"? Please provide definition and etymology. Kortoso (talk) 20:30, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Subregion maps[edit]

Could use one or more maps showing subregions. -- Beland (talk) 04:36, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

This article is using a list of "General references" section, as well as an "External links" section, supposedly as sources for the article. This practice created the category "Articles with unsourced statements from August 2014". I created a "General references" section, moving listed references there, and adding "Reflist" in the "References" section for future edits. Basically the article referencing is in disarray, overly broad, and does not conform to Policies and Guidelines.
