Name origin?[edit]

Could we consider this game to be called Mega collection because of the [Mega Drive] name in territories besides North America?

  • I thought of that too. Should it be in the article?. --Libertyernie2 01:28, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's speculative and original research, so no. Ace of Sevens 01:36, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic Mega Collection Plus[edit]

Is there any reason Sonic Mega Collection Plus is a separate article? It's mostly the same. We could easily make it a section in this article with its own infobox and a paragraph about what was added. Ace of Sevens 19:26, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it doesn't seem to warrant an additional article. Hyper Anthony 18:43, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Nothing else more to be said.

I just merged the article now. This is my first merge, so please tell me if I screwed up on something! CJ 21:28, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You forgot to merge in the categories and left a bit of redundant info, but not bad. I fixed it up a bit. Ace of Sevens 22:48, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Worth Upgrading to SMC+[edit]

I have SMC, and was wondering if it was worth getting SMC+. I am considering getting it and Gems so as to have as many Sonic games as possible.

It adds six Game Gear games and two Genesis games, as it says on the page. I haven't played those much, so I can't really say. --Libertyernie2 16:15, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sonic Adventure DX has all 12 Sonic Game Gear games. Sonic Mega Collection+ has only 6. So I'd keep the GameCube version of Sonic Mega Collection, and buy Sonic Adventure DX. Mega Man 5 30 June 2007 (UTC)
You have to unlock the games though, so it would be very hard. Libertyernie2 13:14, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but at least all 12 are included. And the first 6 or 7 aren't very hard to unlock. Mega Man 5 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Sonic the Hedgehog[edit]

What's the difference between the American and Japanese versions? I used a code to see the American version but I didn't notice any difference. YuckieDuck 15:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The clouds in GHZ move in the Japanese version, and there are a few other fancy effects too. They're really not that different. --Libertyernie2 18:11, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Massive Lag[edit]

Did anybody experience an almost untolerable amount of lag while getting the a Chaos Emerald in Sonic 3 (its the one that's on the upper-left on the diagram, the X below:

 x 0 0
0 0 0 0

While getting the last 20 or so blue spheres, the frame started to slow down, and with the last 5 or so, the amount of time between each sphere extended to seconds. I thought it froze for a few seconds, since it just sat there at one point for at least 5 seconds.

This is why it took me forever to get the last emerald, as it transitions from super fast to unbelievably slow in a short period of time. I'm hoping this isn't normal. BirdValiant 19:54, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Released in North America first[edit]

This product (i.e. the package, not the individual games) was released in North America first, so I thought it would count as an American game and the Template:Nihongo could be left out. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 22:23, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exclusion of Sonic CD[edit]

Does somebody know why it was (oh so rudely) left out? I think it should be said on the article, after all the game is exellent. --UltimateDestroyerOfWorlds (talk) 01:54, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

8 Bit games[edit]

Does anybody know why they are the Game Gear and not Master System versions? AJUK Talk!! 21:43, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about their differences, but the Master System versions were very obscure. The final one (Sonic Blast) was even South America only. Theclaw1 (talk) 03:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

50Hz[edit]

I have removed the line claiming that "the PC version also uses the PAL-50 versions of the Mega Drive games instead of the NTSC-60 ones, and the game therefore runs at the slower 50Hz". I have tested this with Sonic the Hedgehog and it is definitely running at 60Hz. It is still possible that the games are the PAL versions though as the speed of Mega Drive games depended on the console (or emulator) on which the games were running. Thus, it is possible the games are the PAL versions running at 60Hz. Does anyone know what the actual code differences were between the NTSC and PAL versions? eyeball226 (talk) 16:08, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Emulation[edit]

The Emulation part of the page suggests that Gens/GS was used for emulation on the PC version, however Gens/GS first milestone release was in 2008 with the PC version for SMC+ being released in 2006 in North America. Is this truly possible? Wouldn't normal Gens or KEGAFusion have been used? 90.219.26.46 (talk) 01:49, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Table of Games[edit]

@TheJoebro64: Added the table here, please take a look when you get a chance. I trust your expertise on Sonic games more than mine. I said Flicky is originally an arcade game, which it is, but I wondered if this compilation ported the Genesis version. So maybe a sentence is needed to explain that. Bchill53 (talk) 22:10, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've got no problems with it. And FWIW I think the Genesis version of Flicky was used but that can be noted in the development section. JOEBRO64 22:12, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I tried a footnote solution. TarkusABtalk 22:25, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
