Request for Usurpation[edit]

Hello, Wikinerd. A request has been made at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations to usurp, or "take over", your username because you have not used it to edit, and another user would like to use it to edit. Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations says that any unused username may be usurped if the user is given seven days notice to object and does not do so.

If you have an email set in your preferences, you should be getting an email from a bureaucrat or changing username clerk explaining how to consent or object to this process.

If you do not object to being renamed to a new username in order for another user to utilize the name you currently have, please log in and post a reply here saying so (you may also tell us what username you would like to be renamed to, or we will provide you with a generic one).

If you do nothing: the request will be filled after seven days, and your account will be moved to a generic username. You may request that it be moved to a new username of your choice at any time.

If you object to being renamed: please log in and make an edit. You may make an edit here saying "No," you may make an edit to blank this page, or any other edit you like; making any edit at all prevents your username from being usurped, because users with edits cannot have their usernames usurped.

Please note that even if your current username is usurped, you can still edit and your data will not be lost; your preferences, watchlist, and other user settings will be transferred to a new username.

Reverting[edit]

Hello. Your revert deleted my link to User:Neolux, my IDRIVE notice and my POV-check notice. I have now made these edits again, since I see nothing wrong with them (the page is listed at the relevant Wikipedia project pages), and it is not required to get support in talk page in order to add IDRIVE and POV-Check notices, but if I am wrong please give me links to Wikipedia policy. Discussion and reverts from other users indicate that you do not have support for your changes. This has nothing to do with policy other than that you could garner consensus for your changes if they are opposed. I am acting as a user just as you are. Links to user pages are frowned on. Partly because user pages are in a different space than the articles themselves and are not approved parts of the encyclopedia. When Wikipedia is made into a deliverable product user pages will not be included. My apologies for removing your improvement drive nomination. Show preview[edit]

I would like to draw your attention to the "Show preview" button that is located at the bottom of each edit window next to the "Save page" button. You are encouraged to use it to confirm that your edits are correct before saving them. Saving an article 17 times in 45 minutes, as you did at Drupal, clutters up the change logs and makes extra work for those of us who are checking your edits. Legal training[edit]

Professionally, I specialize in law related to real estate, although this has very little to do with any of my activities on Wikipedia. Legal training certainly can help with argumentation and dispute resolution skills, although it will not necessarily develop an appropriate balance between these two skill sets, which have a certain natural tension between them. Many lawyers end up primarily developing one of these skills (usually argumentation) because it more closely suits their personalities or their career path, and they may not be all that good at the other.

I'm afraid it's difficult for me to make recommendations about legal training, especially with respect to what's available online. For one thing, I'm primarily familiar with the way it works in the US, where such training is almost entirely done by university-affiliated law schools in a physical classroom setting. They have started to develop some computer-based training, but access to this is generally restricted to the students of these schools. California and possibly a few other states allow students from non-accredited, independent law schools to take the state's bar examination. Such schools are not highly regarded, and while some do offer their courses online, I don't have enough specific knowledge about any school to make it possible to recommend one.

Basically, for the US at least there is a great deal of legal information available online (though its quality can vary drastically), but not so much actual legal training. It may be similar for other countries, but I don't know the situation as well elsewhere. --Michael Snow 16:41, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Frivolous categories[edit]

Please stop creating frivolous categories to add to your user page. It is not appropriate to categorize Wikipedians (or, indeed, articles) by such trivia as hair color, preferred soda drink etc. You get the idea. R adiant _>|< 09:38, August 18, 2005 (UTC)

Short articles[edit]

Finally, may I suggest that if you create a very short article (e.g. a line or two) that you might consider instead adding that text to an existing article to provide context, and add a Redirect? For instance, you wrote a line about the official Motto of Greece - but that information should be on the main page for Greece since it's very appropriate there, and the motto itself can redirect. If you write a short article anyway, you should consider marking it as a Wikipedia:Stub so that people will find it and add to it. Happy editing! R adiant _>|< 09:40, August 18, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I understand that you are either Greek Wikipedian or a Wikipedian living in/with an interest in Greece.

The category page Wikipedians/Greece has been replaced with Category:Wikipedians in Greece but your name still appears on the old list. You might considering moving it. You might also consider adding adding Template:Greekwiki to your user page.

Nomination of Marcus Brinkmann for deletion[edit]
