Moseley in Attica riot[edit]
If someone has a source for this, I'd be really thankful. I couldn't find anything about this, except one sentence references like in https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/05/nyregion/winston-moseley-81-killer-of-kitty-genovese-dies-in-prison.html Cheers Xapheneon (talk) 09:27, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
- Are you looking for more information about his involvement in the uprising? Not sure where we can find that, pretty much all the references I can see (and there are hundreds) merely say he participated in the riot but nothing about how. I've added your nyt reference since the original reference didn't directly support his involvement. --RegentsPark (comment) 01:09, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
I mostly want to locate the original source, since the news paper articles just say he participated like a commonly known fact. I found it weird, that I found nothing about the Attica riot that references Moseley, but when writing about Moseley a ton of people reference the uprising. He probably didn't play a big role, somebody writing an article about him probably realized that he was there at the time. Xapheneon (talk) 09:27, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Confusing Wording[edit]
There's a sentence in this article, "Various aspects of an alleged lack of public response existed." I have no idea what this means. It is grade A+ officialese. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ndiekemper (talk • contribs) 18:00, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
- True. I checked both references and nothing in either of them explains this (incomprehensible!) sentence so I've removed it. Thanks for finding this!--RegentsPark (comment) 18:52, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
What did Karl ross do?[edit]
The article states that Karl Ross called a friend who then called the police; but I found other accounts that claim that Ross himself called the police after climbing over the roof into a neighbours flat (he apparantly didn't want to get involved because he was gay, presumably that was also the reason for him using his neighbours phone).
This source says Ross called the police: https://nypost.com/2014/02/16/book-reveals-real-story-behind-the-kitty-genovese-murder/ This source says Ross climbed out of his window and then called the police from another flat: https://www.history.com/topics/crime/kitty-genovese#section_8 This source says he climbed into another flat over the roof and then called the police: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/asian-attack-nyc-kitty-genovese/
I don't know whether any of the sources are more reliable than the source named in the wikipedia Article, but maybe it should be mentioned that there are differenct accounts of what happened? Haenslein1 (talk) 12:41, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Misogyny as a motive?[edit]
I checked the reference provided (Necrophilia: Forensic and Medico-legal Aspects by Anil Aggrawal, p.144), and the specified page nor the surrounding pages seem to suggest that the murderer's motive was rooted in a hate of women. Oktayey (talk) 23:16, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Due to a lack of any explanation after two months, I've removed the claim. Oktayey (talk) 18:24, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- user:TheXuitts, Why did you restore this claim? How does the provided source at all support it? Oktayey (talk) 22:28, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
