I think, one could mention the creation date of lex software

Title?[edit]

Why is this at Lex programming tool instead of Lex? It's not like there's a disambiguation page there. -- Cyrius|✎ 05:58, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)

There is now, but the title still grates. Nobody calls it "lex programming tool" - just "lex". The title should probably be Lex (programming tool). Hairy Dude 11:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lex Luthor?[edit]

Example files[edit]

The example file is for flex. Someone should write one for lex proper and move that one to the article for flex, which doesn't have one. There are some subtle differences.

I removed the flex %option line that is not from lex, and which sets the output buffer size to zero. Now it runs successfully though actual lex. It also runs with lex -r to generate ratfor output. I didn't check the one in the flex article. I now don't see anything wrong with this one. Gah4 (talk) 02:19, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

first sentence[edit]

POSIX[edit]

There is a ^{[citation needed]} about lex beeing part of the POSIX standard. It is and the the web page to cite is http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/utilities/lex.html but I can't figure out how to add a proper citation to wikipedia.
