Purest Feeling

Thank you very much for doing all that work on the Purest Feeling article. My copy of the album and of When The Whip Comes Down are currently on lend to someone at work, although I doubt I would have gone to as much effort as you have with adding all that info' and the sidebar. Perhaps you could do the same for When The Whip Comes Down? I'll be able to if you can't. Could I be cheeky and ask you to take a look at the Happiness In Slavery article? Sarcasm is unhelpful. In your terms, your edits "wasted" a huge amount of my time, because I'd already tidied the articles into Wikipedia style, both in obvious Manual-of-Style ways and in terms of turning the idiosyncratic typography of album sleeves into proper English.

I'm currently looking at an album by Wayne Shorter, for which I made an article last night. It has his name and the album title, and the track titles, in all capitals — on the front and back and liner notes. That's just the publisher's style, though (as it is for many books, magazines, films, etc.); when giving the title we don't use all capitals; we use the Wikipedia (and normal English) naming conventions.

Note also the way to link "Japanese" and "album", and the Wikipedia policy that punctuation goes outside inverted commas unless it's part of what's being quoted. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:15, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

I'm not sure what "legally in capitals" means; legality isn't the issue, but normal English style and the Wikipedia MoS. The naming conventions don't mention not using all capitals because that's a general point, not limited to naming articles (see, for example, the article on All caps, which points out: "All caps [...] commonly appears in titles on book covers, on advertising billboards, and in dramatic newspaper headlines. It is not widely used in body copy."). If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Image copyright problem with Image:Prince.eye.gif

Stylised typography

The issue with title and crossing out their name isn't often an issue on Wikipedia, but when it is, it falls under the umbrella of stylised typography. Generally, the title should be written in proper English, so there are no TITLES IN CAPS, or MiXeD Cap$ or $ymBoLs for that matter. The page you have linked also has a heated discussion on its talk page, with no consensus yet reached on how the title should be handled, so please do not reference the page for your changes to the Maximum the Hormone page. Wumpscut

I reverted your deletion of labels and release formats form the main article simply the reason that not all the releases have individual articles and you're saying that info belongs there. First off, where does it say that label and format info HAS to go into release articles in the first place? Secondly, some underground bands that have individual album articles are getting hit with notability tags - they aren't widely known and it's an argument to justify them having separate articles for their releases in the first place. Sooner or later, since Wumpscut is not mainstream - the articles will probably be hit by notability tags and deleted eventually. I don't see a problem with containing that information in one list on the band's article. Yeah it may look sloppy, but it may help collectors find their stuff and it's all in one place, not scattered around 500 separate articles that don't cover everything in the first place. July 2009

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Riceboy Sleeps (album) a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
