Jersyko[edit]

Hey, Jersyko, I like the way the name "Jersyko" sounds when pronounced ... in fact just sitting here I've pronounced it 100+ times out loud ... it's such a fine name ... - Andrew Lin

I've never disagreed with you that soda is probably not good for your health. Nothing there proves anything about its addictiveness, nor does it say that small to moderate intake of soda is bad for you. I will delete any further messages about soda/food/addictions/your other crusades on my talk page because you are using it simply as a platform to spout your odd propoganda. Wikipedia is not a soapbox and neither are talk pages. - Jersyko 23:16, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

I've blocked Andrew and his two sock puppets for 24 hours. If he comes back with a different ID, let me know. RickK 23:59, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

Orange Mound[edit]

Well, I'm rather pleased that someone beat us to it. I think the article is about as good as one could do without reference to books, offline older newspaper articles and visiting the neighborhood, and I like the basic organization. Of course, it's got a long way to go, but it's nice someone did a bit of our work for us:) I hope he/she used our notes -- no sense in wasting time, after all. I plan to contact the author soon. In terms of us doing the work on the article, I'm almost ready, and I don't leave the U.S. for a little over a month. I haven't done much on this project lately, except drive around a couple of time, and I saw several buildings/areas that'll be good to take pictures of. --Zantastik 00:46, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nascar[edit]

Oh, and it's quite funny, the hatred some anon user has for you for no reason at all;) --Zantastik 00:47, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Its also quite funny that there was a reason but you thought you would just put your 2 cents anyway without any backround on the situation because you like to be heard198.74.20.73 17:27, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
The reason was your misunderstanding of what i did to an article. Zantastik did know the background. - Jersyko talk 18:06, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)

I know he didn't know the background, thats the reason his comments are funny to me, no base for his comments besides to act cool to you because I know he likes and wants you to like him and be best friends and hang out at the trailer, do you still make that moonshine?198.74.20.73 19:15, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)198.74.20.73 19:14, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

At the risk of making you look foolish and thus causing you to vandalize my page - he knows the background because he's a real life friend and i explained what happened to him. No, i don't make moonshine. Aren't you the nascar fan, here? - Jersyko talk 20:53, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)

Well I wouldn't look foolish because I was mad about your negative comments about NASCAR, But I dont want to get into it again and I don't think you want to either. Im a HUGE Jeff Gordon fan and I hate toni stewart!

Batteries[edit]

I cant belive im not banned yet! I see you dont like me battery boy. - 198.74.20.75 (signature added by jersyko)

Believe it or not, most people would tend to dislike someone if they called them a "cock sucking faggot" on their userpage. I, on the other hand, find your absolutely baseless hatred for me amusing. Enjoy your next, longer ban. P.S. make sure to bring some D cells when you come over tonight - Jersyko 20:41, May 27, 2005 (UTC)
1st off, Im not banned, 2nd of, I will just push on your belly and a few will com out your butt! Anyway, Im going to bring over a mortorcycle battery, I think your ready for it.198.74.20.75 (signature added by jersyko)
  • You're looking for an indefinite ban, aren't you? If you keep this up, that's probably what you'll get... but that's just my opinion. --Chanting Fox 21:37, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain which rule did my page violate? -chloroplaster

Look at it now. - Jersyko 01:55, May 28, 2005 (UTC)

I've read through the rules. I don't find one. - 210.0.198.76 (sig added by jersyko)

Assuming you are the same user as the above (chloroplaster), i've posted the rule in several locations, including your talk page, the talk page of the article itself, and your compatriot's talk page. For the last time, the relevant rule is Wikipedia is not a soapbox, especially the disallowance of "Primary (original) research such as proposing theories and solutions, original ideas, defining terms, coining new words, etc." Like i said, start a webpage, start a blog, write a school newspaper article about your experience, but wikipedia is an encyclopedia and such articles are not appropriate. Thanks. - Jersyko talk 15:22, May 29, 2005 (UTC)

Some advice, please ...[edit]

Jersyko, I know I shouldn't be talking about this, but I really hate soft drink companies and would do anything in my power to make them make less money. Do you have any reasonable suggestions and advice? Thank you! 68.170.0.238 15:56, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the question, i replied on your talk page as well but wanted to reproduce my response here in case you miss it. You seem very passionate about the causes you advocate, and that kind of passion could be channelled into something more tangible than making anti-soda edits on Wikipedia. Fortunately, there are several ways you can do so. First, you could start a website or blog about your cause. Second, you could start a student organization ("Students Against Soda/Sugar" or what have you). Third, you could lobby your congressman/woman to take an interest in your issue. Fourth, you could contact the Food and Drug Administration, Dept. of Health and Human Services, or any other relevant government agencies and ask them to take stronger stances on your issue. Fifth, you could contact a health-related lobbying orgainization and ask them to advance your cause (I bet they would be happy to have you as a university or region volunteer, as well). I wish I could provide more specific contacts, but i'm sure a little bit of google searching would provide quick answers.
In any event, your admission that you passionately hate soda companies probably means it would be wise if you stopped editing soda-related articles. Remember, Wikiepdia is an encyclopedia, and our information must be unbiased and verifiable. I can't force you to stop making these edits, but in my own experience, I've found that it's best to stay away from articles that I feel strongly about (unless something is just blatantly wrong). Thanks for the question. - Jersyko talk 16:51, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, if anyone knows why i'm having bolding problems on my talk page, please let me know. My custom signature might have something to do with it (though there is not supposed to be any bold in it). - Jersyko talk 00:14, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)
You called two font markups, but only terminated one. (POV) I wouldn't add any wiki/HTML/css code within a wiki link. Lord only knows how it would be rendered by any software (MediaWiki, IE, Mozilla, NS, Opera..) in the long run.(/POV) But you can add outside the wiki link ('''[[example | LINKS-R-US]]''') FYI, You can combine vars in comon markup tags, look at the rewrite of your markup to see only ONE font markup (and one closer). Tested and works great! NOTE: Your talk link won't work on this page, as it is this page.

I dont want to talk to him, I want to make fun of him. He doesnt want to talk to me, he is your buddy. I want to make fun of him where everyone can see it. 198.74.20.73 01:41, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Everyone can see it just as easily on his talk page as on mine. That's one of the advantages of an open site like Wikipedia. Since personal attacks are in violation of wikipedia policy, someone, i'm sure, will remove any attempts to do so on my talk page. Like i said before, personal attacks on me on my talk page are one thing (and something i let slide quite often, frankly) but i won't allow anyone to personally attack a third user on my talk page in violation of this policy, no matter how much i may dislike that user. - Jersyko talk 01:46, Jun 7, 2005 (UTC)

CMU[edit]

He made the mistake of editing from college, and not home - his normal static IP is just Adelphia Cable. He wasn't breaking the law and probably not Adelphia's TOS, so no contact there would do anything... however, CMU are bound to have a strict misuse of resources policy. So, slam him. --Kiand 17:54, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No problem, but as ususally their is none if little intervention from the "admins", so we have to watch each others backs. Vandalism, again[edit]

Looks like Shanes blocked him. Since he has several IPs available he'll probably be back--no worries--we'll just block him again. Antandrus (talk) 21:14, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I see evidence of his activity in all these other IPs besides the two that were blocked: [1] [2] [3] [4]
Since they are adjacent, if the problem persists, and there is no evidence of any good users in this range, we could either range block Norwest or else block each IP individually. Take care, Antandrus (talk) 21:21, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Dear User 198.74.20.xxx[edit]

You have chosen to target me, among others, but especially me, with your monstrously annoying posts, vandalism, and assorted garbage. Your entire organization, Norwest/Wells Fargo will probably soon be completely blocked from editing Wikipedia. If the administrators here at wikipedia chooose not to block your organization, I plan on contacting your network administrator to notify him/her of usage of company computers in a way that is almost certainly in violation of company computer usage policy. I don't want you to get in any "real life" trouble, and I would really rather not see your entire company, and any other people that happen to work there and legitimately want to contribute to this encyclopedia be prohibited from doing so simply because of your actions. I'm asking you, for the last time, to discontinue all of your editing on wikipedia. Thanks, you won't be hearing from me again. - Jersyko talk 23:24, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

Did you read my last post? I know you deleted it. I dont know why you are such a Jeff Gordon hater. Why can't you admit he is the best?
In the history of this discussion you said you'd say Jeff Gordon is the best ever if I leave wikpedia, I wont leave but I will not vandalize any more.

Jeff Gordon[edit]

I really don't feel like vadalizing anymore.

Mundillo Lacemaking[edit]

Jersyko...I was not trying to include nonsense in the Wikipedia, as you indicate...Actually, I was attempting to include the name of a Master Artist in Mundillo Lacemaking, Rosa Elena Egipciaco, who in 2004 won an award by the National Endowment of the Arts and the National Heritage of Folk and Traditional Arts in the United States. The attempt failed, but certainly, if you can include this information in the Wikipedia, it will add to the name of recognized Puerto Rican artists and their excellent contribution to America. Fraternalmente, Mylo (207.200.116.7)

Hmmm, I think you are addressing the wrong person. I would welcome a contribution to Wikipedia like the one you are describing. Maybe check the name of the user who sent you that message again, I have a feeling it was either 1) someone else or 2) someone pretending to be me (by fraudulently signing my user name to his/her message). Thanks. - Jersyko talk 22:00, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Tooth Enamel[edit]

  • I have been fairly busy during this week that I have barely been able to keep editing their suggestions, but I will try to tonite. I think all that needs to be done is this: there are only two actual notes referenced from eMedicine in the Notes section. In those particular instances, the detailed information from both of those articles (such as authors) can be mentioned, and the eMedicine homepage, I think, can stay as is in the References section. Now, if my memory serves correct, there is only one other online reference, and I do not believe there is an author mentioned. It is an australian website I think, but I do not know how I will be adding any extra information on it. I know the info there is all correct, but I just cited that particular source because that is what I used to make sure my memory was right. If it is a big problem, I guess I can find another source to quote. Well, if I get a second, I will try to change the citations, but you are more than welcomed to help with what you want. -Dozenist talk 23:56, 13 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A request[edit]

Jersyko, I still think that Italian Renaissance (or the latter half of it) has some stylistic problems. Here's an example.

this

As the Greek works were acquired, manuscripts found, libraries and museums formed, the age of the printing press was dawning. The works were translated from Greek and Latin into the contemporary modern languages throughout Europe finding a receptive audience. (especially that part)

should become this

While scholars and collectors rediscovered many Greek classics, Northern Italy was entering into a period a intellectual ferment: libraries and museums were founded, and the age of the press was dawning. This knowledge was spread in part by new translations of classical Greek and Latin works into modern European languages, enlarging the audience for these works (though this audience remained small, given the cost of books and widespread illiteracy)

The article was promoted without anyone addressing my objection at all. I find this somewhat troubling; even if my objection is dismissed, then it should be addressed first. Take a look at some of the sections at the end -- you'll see what I mean. Well, if you could tidy up a section or two, I'd appreciate it. It's incredibly time-consuming and difficult, but I just think that articles that are about to be featured on the main page should meet certain stylistic standards. --Zantastik talk 21:11, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your reversion of the POV portion of the text that was added, but if Clinton did pocket veto a similar bill, that should be noted, along with Clinton's stated reasons for refusing to sign it. -- BD2412 talk 20:25, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

Your changes to fluoridation page[edit]

I see that you deleted recent additions to the fluoridation page. Did you make these deletions based on errors in the statements? If so, could you please identify what these errors were?

Unless you can show that the statements are incorrect, I think it was an abuse of the system to delete them. - unsigned post by 69.162.164.95

  • The relevant article is water fluoridation. I'm afraid that the burden is not on me here. If you're referring to the western europe sentence, the content is already covered in the next paragraph and the source cited is at best, a biased interest group, and is probably more accurately characterized as a conspiracy site. If you're referring to the paragraph that was inserted at the end of the article, it was entirely unsourced and full of grammatical and spelling errors. Neither addition to the article was necessary or improved the article. Please see Water fluoridation controversy for all your conspirational needs. Have a nice day. - Jersyko talk 03:12, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
