Koda Kumi is recognized stage name for her, this is not an issue of romanization/westernization vs Japanese names. It is an issue of what an artist is referred to. "Utada Hikaru" is always referred to as Utada Hikaru, much as Koda Kumi is always Koda Kumi in albums, promotional materials, and in Japanese press. Very rarely you will see their names reversed into western order when they are referred to by western media, but this is not the largely accepted method.

In the reverse, Ayumi Hamasaki is always referred to in the western style, not the true Japanese Hamasaki Ayumi. In regards to music artists, the convention should be based on what they are referred to as artists, and not their birth names.

It is also helpful for people as far as searching goes without redirects as anyone who would actually be looking up information on Koda Kumi is likely to have some knowledge of the fact that that is the order her name is referred to as an artist, whereas a redirect to "Kumi Koda" might cause confusion.

Stick with the widely recognized stage or artist name.
