Comment[edit]

Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.

I decided to add in a little bit of info on two Filipino immigrants that helped in shaping the direction of farm working organizing for the UFW because not that many people know that Filipino labor workers helped in starting the farm workers movement. --Shawnobina 6:17, 14 June 2011

Delano has a good-sized Asian-American (mostly Filipino) community, in addition to a Hispanic or Latino majority, the legacy of Filipino farm laborers from the Philippines arrived in Kern County, California and the annual Philippine weekend is held there. Major edits[edit]

I did a bunch of cleaning up, adding cites, conversion to prose, editing for style and clarity, etc. I think the page is better, tighter and more accurate now. I think the lists of locations should be converted to prose or eliminated - I think they were pasted in right from the City's website. Maybe I'll do it later. Also, I don't know how to fix the climate chart, which seems be placed over other elements of the page, and I'm not sure why the reference numbers are out of order. --Ferretstew (talk) 06:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

My family having lived there from 1956 to 2001, I was surprised to see the first pronunciation. I have never heard anything but dee-LAY-no, so are there references? It may well have been different at earlier times, but I think the local popular standard should rule, at least for place names. On the other hand, the place is very cosmopolitan for such a small country town, and the demographics have shifted towards hispanic since I last lived there myself, in 1959. What? I think this needs cleaned of graffiti[edit]

"Although very real, no one else knows about this city". I assume this statement is meant as a joke, but even if someone is trying to make a comment on Delano not being well know in the state or across the US, it needs to be stated in a different way with some reference article that proves the point.
