459 references for a 300 word article? Something is out of balance here! -- Michael Tinkler, sticking his toe back in wikipedia after a year off

The reasons I added this rather long reference list to the main Phelsuma article are:

  1. that this main Phelsuma page links to many articles on Phelsuma species. In many of the listed references, more than one species is described, so I would have to duplicate those references many times (for each described species), which seems a waste of disk space. I would rather link each reference (record) to the different articles (other records), like a relational database, but alas wikipedia doesn't allow for this.
  2. If one wants to read more about this genus, this list is a starting point.

We could of course create a new article "Phelsuma literature".

Hello,

Concerning the Phelsuma article, I'd like to know what people would like to have improved / added most urgently. Jurriaan 11:42, 21 Dec 2003 (UTC)

IMO, that enormous reference list needs to go. How about moving it here to talk: instead? Bryan 04:00, 16 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Gieco Gecko[edit]

Should we add something about the fact that the Gieco Gecko is a day gecko? 1 wit da force 15:36, 16 August 2007 (UTC)1 wit da force[reply]

I don't think so. The Gieco Gecko is a combination of geckos characteristics. The fact that it has eyelids is the biggest reason it is NOT a day gecko. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LLDGecko (talkcontribs) 15:12, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

article name and start of article[edit]

Article titled "Phelsuma", but starts off with "Day Geckos are small lizards of the genus Phelsuma in the gecko family.". Since article is titled Phelsuma, I'm wondering why article doesn't start with "Phelsuma". Article used to start as "Phelsumas are small lizards which are also known as day geckos." (Change start to "Phelsuma genus consists of various types of Day Geckos." ?) --EarthFurst (talk) 20:28, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Is it /ˈfɛlsʊmə/ or /fɛlˈsuːmə/? (Or something else…) 85.211.45.101 (talk) 02:21, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
