Nonnotable website. Smacks of vanity to me. Delete. Indrian 04:03, Nov 1, 2004 (UTC)

It may be interesting for y'all to know that the user who created the page is Rpg2knet. -[[User:Frazzydee|Frazzydee|]] 04:16, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. The only time I ever heard of this site during my time in hunting for warez. I think they illegaly translated something called RPG Maker that was Japanese and caused the company to cancel it's official translation for the U.S. Keeping an article on this just promotes illegal software piracy. They also steal a lot of other games' artwork and other people's original artwork. .::. 04:09, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. First, the site has never contained illegal files. Secondly, the article STATES who translated the Japanese program, thank you for taking the time to read skim over the article. Thirdly, the site has progressed from its humble beginnings: people from the site are actually getting employed in game programming, music and graphic arts, all because they nurtured their hobby at the site. I understand this isn't a web directory, I have not linked to the website in question anywhere in the article. All the article does is give a background of the site in relation to an already existing topic here on wikipedia, namely RPG Maker. Please reconsider? (Rpg2knet)
  • Keep. Just because this is a fairly minor website (at least in comparison to the GREAT Wikipedia) doesn't mean that it doesn't deserve to be here. It's not a vanity page, and if you think so, maybe you should reread the guidelines. They clearly state that all arguments of "this subject is not famous enough" should be IGNORED in deletion considerations. Furthermore, it has almost 4000 google hits and is somewhat famous in the rpgmaking community. I would argue for this article's improvement and reorganization, not for its deletion. (Styrbjorn)

  • Delete. Not famous enough. If this is allowed, then Wikipedia will be filled up with anyone who has a site listed on Google. Abcabc 05:39, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC) [user has no contributions except for this vote. spencer195 07:50, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)]
A page should not be cast away as "vanity" simply because it may have been authored by its subject, or because the subject is unfamous. There is presently no consensus about what degree of recognition is required for a page to be included in Wikipedia, and therefore, lack of fame should be ignored in deletion debates. -- Wikipedia Guidelines regarding Vanity Pages

  • Keep. As a 2knetter whos been visiting the site since early 2001, I can assure that the site is well worthy of recognition even if it has degenerated a bit over the years. - goldzero2001, a proud 2knet oldbie

  • Keep. 2knet has earned its title as a reckoning force alongside sites like Gaming World and GGZ. Many of you don't even know what the site is or does, let alone it's history, but it was indeed a crown jewel during the golden age of RM2k95+/2000, and should be noted as such. If for nothing else, leave this in the encyclopedia as a tribute to what 2knet has achieved in the past, and will be able to achieve again in the near future. - Justin

  • Keep Rpg2knet has established the position of the "home game maker" among the internet, and predates many sites that copy the same ideals created at 2knet. Rpg2knet is not just "another rpg site", it's a game development community, focused on programming, music, modding and more. - Parable

  • Delete: Using my "Does this club do anything" test, this one is too minor, and I absolutely do not care that its friends and enemies feel strongly. "The best lack all conviction/ While the worst are filled with a passionate intensity" or something like that. Geogre 15:38, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Google test: [2]. 1,100 hits (that aren't on the Rpg2knet.com domain) is just not all that exciting for an Internet presence. Even back when I was interested in this stuff, I had never heard of this site. I also have misgivings about the intentions of User:Rpg2knet, whose original article by this title was a clear speedy delete. [[User:Aranel|Aranel ("Sarah")]] 16:00, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)

    • You already voted, and the cat doesn't get a vote. (Removed Image:Keep_This_Cat.jpg - I'm not aware of any formal policy that forbids images on the VfD page, but this is really common sense.) - RedWordSmith 21:54, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. As has been pointed out several times, lack of fame is irrelevant in debates for deletion/not deletion, and WITHIN ITS COMMUNITY OF A LARGER TOPIC (rpg making), it is a fairly large site as sites go. Also, one of the posts up there smacks of libel - rpg2knet.com has never translated software illegally, nor has (knowingly, to the best of my knowledge) intentionally stolen any artwork. Pot also calling the kettle black, as you say you don't want to promote software piracy, yet say that you found it while attempting to pirate software. - Nero [and yes; I am aware that this is my sole edit. I'm not sure how this is relevant.]

It's relevant in how much weight to give to your vote when the admin determines the final outcome. Reasonable conclusions can be made such as how familiar you are with how normal Wikipedia procedures are carried out, how dedicated you've been to the encyclopedia in the past, etc. Ivers 06:50, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. This site is obviously trying to increase their traffic, by intentionally adding a link in RPG Maker to their site and then linking to RPG Maker. It's all a scheme and a sad, pathetic attempt at pseudo-historical fame. They should join the link farms and web rings along with all the other sites trying to increase their staff's ego on how "notable" their site is. Kuj 05:35, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
