Quote: "In 1992, she received a visit from a delegation including the mayor of Minsk, capital of Belarus. It was the first and only time that she made contact with anyone from her homeland". HOMELAND? Belarus is NOT Russia, dear Chinese friends. That needs to be corrected. --rydel 18:04, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

or does her birthplace need to be corrected? --Jiang 18:10, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Actually, most people lived in Taiwan don't know "Belarusian" and "White Russians"(member of White movement during the Russian Civil War) are different - these two words are almost the same in Chinese. --61.230.208.14 11:14, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)

To rydel: Belarus WAS a part of the Russian Empire at that time, like it or not. But the aricle is correct: Faina Vakhreva was born to a Byelorussian family which had moved to Yekaterinburg, so Belarus IS her ancestral homeland. By the way, her (Byelo)Russian name was spelled incorrectly in English, I have fixed it. - X-lynx 09:12, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify the above: In Chinese, "Belarus" is "Bai-E-Luo-Si" (白俄罗斯), literally "White Russia", and the country abbreviation is "bai-E" (白俄), literally "White Rus". Hence, the country name can easily be confused for the term White Russian (i.e. anti-communist forces during the Russian Civil War). -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 15:30, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Anyone knows how to spell "Faina Epatcheva Vahaleva" in Cyrillic alphabets? -- Toytoy 19:17, Mar 31, 2005 (UTC)

Already done. - X-lynx 09:12, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate[edit]

Does anyone know whether 15 May 1916 was her birthdate in Julian calendar or Gregorian calendar? Russia still used Julian calendar at that time.--Jusjih 02:09, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish?[edit]

The article claims that she was born in what is now Belarus to a Lithuanian-Jewish family. Is this true? I tried looking into various sources and she is referred to as "Russian", "Belarusian", or "ethnic Russian" in all the sources I have seen. Nowhere did I see anything about Jewish or Lithuanian heritage. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 20:54, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
