S-Force Silverhawks?[edit]

I looked through the article for the first time in a while and saw that someone was saying S-Force was a spoof of Silverhawks. How so? If it's because of the bird costumes, that's part of them being a Battle of the Planets spoof, not Silverhawks. Gladrius 03:19, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Downtown and Megas XLR?[edit]

How does Downtown have anything to do with Megas XLR? Neither of the two creators of Megas XLR created Downtown. Maybe I'm missing something here (like they were production instead of director / creator / writer) but I don't see any similarities. Can someone check on this and update the article as needed? Thanks. 71.225.125.176 17:55, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Stexe[reply]

Both Jody Schaeffer and George Krstic were involved with Downtown; Krstic was story editor, and Jody was one of the artists. Additionally, Scot Rienecker essentially plays himself (Goat) in both. Da Next Pope (talk) 05:50, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coop D'Etat Air Date[edit]

When did this show orignally air? It's scheduled to play on the 11th at noon so it's not "unaired", but that can't be the premiere... can it? If it didn't air last Saturday (the 4th) what did instead? Solanum 19:10, 7 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hmmmm... it didn't play on the 11th either. Apparently CN.com's schedule is wrong. It's set now to play at the end of October according to http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=121369 Solanum 21:29, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
It didn't air on 10/30, either. Maybe CN just hates the episode.—Boarder8925 14:51, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
"Coop D'Etat" is set to air on April 26. We'll see what happens.—Boarder8925 17:15, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Energy Sword[edit]

Is the Energy Sword an original weapon or borrowed weapon? It's pretty close to Voltron's energy sword (especially the the creating sequence the first time it gets used in ep3) but not sure if it's close enough to be considered unoriginal...

Well, there's other cartoons that have swords like this (like that one guy in Yu Yu Hakusho, if I'm not mistaken). While the idea of Megas's sword is not original, it seems to be enough of its own to be considered original.—Boarder8925 23:10, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Theme Song[edit]

Whoever keeps changing the theme song, I'd appreciate it if you'd stop. You're wrong, it's not 'Standing there' it's 'Living here'. So stop changing it. Solanum 04:46, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Actually, since Wikipedia's policy is not to post copyrighted lyrics, perhaps it's best if they just go, n'est-ce pas?

Manual Control[edit]

In one of the earlier episodes (The one with the car show off contest) Coop had to switch the vehicle to manual control, which consits of a dance pad (a la Dance Dance Revolution) and two gloves. I don't know where to place this into the article. (If at all) I am also wondering if the gloves are a refrence to the "Power Glove" made by Nintendo, but it just may be a generic design w/the gloves. Greyhead 21:58, Mar 7, 2005 (UTC)

That's a good question. Um, I'm guessing that manual control should be left out (for now), since it's neither a weapon nor a character. And the power glove bit? I'm unsure about that one....—Boarder8925 02:14, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Perhaps the weapons category should be changed to Megas equipment? That would encompass everything from shields to weapons to nifty gadgets.Solanum 00:59, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Good point.—Boarder8925 17:15, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Megas—a character?[edit]

Should Megas be considered a character? It's not like it's a talking robot.—Boarder8925 19:51, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Good point. It could probably just be removed from the characters section, seeing as all the information there is already stated elsewhere. — Solanum 20:44, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

the megas is not a Character but it is the main machine of the show. Megas could have its own page. the [General lee] has its own page.

Give Megas it's own page?[edit]

I think that it's time that all the Megas information should be moved to a page specifically for Megas. This page is for the details on the TV show and so if there's so much information one part of the show, then it really deserves it's own article. So if nobody objects, I'll move all the detail to a new article, probably: Megas (Megas XLR). BillPP 20:21, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I created the article at Megas (Megas XLR), and put a link in the Megas section in the main article. I think it needs a few lines of summary or detail. BillPP 21:36, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EMP torpedo[edit]

I've removed the EMP torpedo from the equipment section. I can't remember its being used ever, and it doesn't seem like something noteworthy, anyway.—Boarder8925 00:15, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I do seem to remember it being used, but I'm not sure on the specifics. We'll be able to get a much more comprehensive and accurate listing of weapons once the episodes come out on DVD (I've heard that the first season will be out sometime this summer I believe, I hope that's still true). — Solanum 01:49, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

the torpedo was used in TV Dinner. it was moddied into a minifridge. when it was launched into the planit monsters mouth it was full of pop and fizzy rock candy.

Megas XLR DVDs[edit]

I can't believe Megas XLR has been cancelled. This is just as sad as when Nickelodeon cancelled Invader Zim. Since Megas XLR is officially dead, when will the DVDs be released? --Bushido Hacks 18:57, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sadly, I have no idea.—Sixteen Left 13:36, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia to add[edit]

Closed captioning indicates that Kiva's surname is spelled "Onderu". Her date of birth is Sept 15, 3012.

I couldn't really understand properly how to edit a page so I though I might add this here and let someone else more experienced do it instead.

I'll add it now.--Viridis 01:37, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A little trivia, In the episode Coop d'tat, one of the robots that fights Megas (the one who eventually winds the emperor title) looks a lot like the classic anime robot Mazinger Z. Also, IIRC he was the only robot to be adressed by name when his rival calls him "Zanzor" (or something like that), that might be a reference to Tranzor Z, which is the name Mazinger Z was given in the US version.

Not only that...but his rival bears more than a passing resemblance to Raiden. Also, they were voiced by Peter Cullen and Frank Welker respectively which is noteworthy because they were using their Optimus Prime (with a bit of Venger) and Megatron voices to play opposing robot roles on a mechanical world obviously meant to be an homage to Cybertron.

Megas's head has a strong resembeliince to a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda

Technacally, the show's title is Mechanized Earth Guard Attack System eXtra Large Robot!

In the episode 1x01 - Test Drive the Space Battleship Yamato can be seen too (at around 13th minute) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.196.244.57 (talk) 19:27, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

G4 link[edit]

it isn't on G4's web site any more

Dude, Where's My Head?[edit]

OK, I found out that there's a film called 'Dude, Where's My Car?'. Could it have something to do with the episode 'Dude, Where's My Head?' Ang Ling Yuen 08:45, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

 • That's exactly what the title is referencing, part of the joke being that Megas' head is a car, etc. LightWarden 06:49, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Super-Destructor Mode"[edit]

Didn't Space Runner Ideon have a similar weapon?

Something-Zen Multi-Directional missials? Or Macross Missile Massacre?

Episode List[edit]

I've put in a link to the episode list I've just made, some of the descriptions are pretty bad so someone better than me should go ahead and change the ones that they feel aren't up to scratch. See the discussion page there for more info BillPP 05:13, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cartoon Network Promos[edit]

On the Cartoon Network UK recently (it might have been Toonami), I saw Megas in a promo. it featured Coop in Megas at a traffic light. Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo pulled up alongside and there was some comments about modifying their vehicles. then they had a street race where Megas sped off into the distance and the Mystery Machine just stalled and the gears crunched. I didn't Sky+ it so I can't get any screenshots and it hasn't been on for a while. Does it deserve a mention in the article? eg. "Megas reappeared recently in Cartoon Network's promos". I've seen a similar promotion and it shows Megas again for a second. BillPP 10:32, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heck no. That showed in the US YEARS ago. It's so old. Julz
Rude comments aside, CN regularly uses characters from discontinued series in commercial bumpers long after they've stopped making ir airing their series. I believe that their current set of party bumpers still has Cow and Chicken making cameos... Kouban 23:53, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've found some promos, including the one I mentioned before on this site[1]. I think it's worth including that Megas appears in CN branding and promos. Oh and Julz, what does age have to do with anything? BillPP 13:46, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Megas' arrival[edit]

Does anyone have a more specific period for Megas' landing in the junkyard than "early 20th century"? This would go a long way towards stopping the constant stupid back and forth edits. Kouban 14:24, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have "Test Drive" on tape and just watched it, in fact. The junkyard where Megas ended up was opened in the 1930s, and the pile of junk he was under was there since the place opened.—thegreentrilby 22:08, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Kouban 15:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New section[edit]

Anyone feel like adding a new section for listing all of MEGAS's weapons?

-Solokia

A list of MEGAS's equipment is already present here. Is this what you meant? --May the Edit be with you, always. T-borg (drop me a line) 18:37, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite/edit down[edit]

This article should be trimmed down signifigantly: Not every character who appeared once needs to be included, nor does every pop culture reference in every episode. I suggest removing entries for characters who only appeared in a single episode as a start. Kouban 18:52, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since no action has been taken towards this, I will do so myself. Expect a severe trimming of the article.

Merge of Ultra-Cadets[edit]

They only appear in one episode. Most of the information can be shortened and put on the main page.--$UIT 01:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Megas was done in an anime style?[edit]

I've read interviews and such, were the creators said they were going for an anime style. But I feel that the only thing that resembled an anime was Coop controlling Megas like some pilots do in mech animes. In fact there's an episode that's a parody of anime. The art style doesn't even look like anime. If the creators happen to come across this page, I have a message for them. Please don't try to use another country's art style to boost your cartoon's popularity, just be yourself and everything will be fine. Last but not least, although you guys have said it yourselves, that it's an anime style cartoon, I consider it an american cartoon and I love it.

I'd say all the gaint robots and Kiva are pretty heavily anime-influenced. I wouldn't call Megas XLR anime, more like a nice blend of anime and american styles, like Teen Titans and I love it. I normally hate anime, but Megas is like a nice small dose.--Viridistalk|contributions 00:59, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its not the anime you see in japanese cartoons, it is a mix of america-anime style. But not 'real' anime I think. MihaS 16:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it can considered half and half but I just don't like the idea. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Megagents (talkcontribs) 02:09, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The series uses some stylistic touches common to action anime, such as speed lines, but it's not really a hybrid style. Kouban

01:57, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Megas seems to be a mix but the creators were going for an anime style. It would be reassuring if they'd say it was a hybrid.

Picture[edit]

Is there another picture that features the humans more? Three important characters and they are tiny blobs. Lots42 20:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia removal[edit]

The trivia section is still needlessly bloated and needs to be trimmed down as much as possible. Kouban (talk) 01:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cancellation[edit]

Could anyone offer any insight as to the reason for the cancellation of this show? Zulu Inuoe (talk) 18:21, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would also like to know that reason. And it would also be nice if we have any information on its critical reception. Alphapeta (talk) 09:25, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nova Anyone?[edit]

The Megas looks strikingly smiler to One Must Fall: 2097's Nova! Should this be in trivia or something? It cant be the other way round, since OMF: 2097 came out in 1997 Lord Vipes (talk) 03:24, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, since no one would clear up the Trivia, I took the liberty of doing so. Lord Vipes (talk) 02:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack[edit]

Anyone know what the individual songs from the show are? I've heard a few of them from other shows. Disorderly Conduct, for example, uses the same song Coop has whenever he gets into a fight, like the Franken, or when he picked up that leg in Rearview Mirror, Mirror. Basically, what I'm asking is, what are the songs names, and should we add them? Stormfin (talk) 17:31, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, here are the songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJA2bSQqlC4&feature=related Stormfin (talk) 17:47, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of the recurring themes is a take on Gustav Holst's "Mars, the Bringer of War" from The Planets. Kouban (talk) 02:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Season or Not?[edit]

Has any information about another season has been released or not? Is there going to be a new season? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.135.47.220 (talk) 20:36, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

iTunes[edit]

Megas XLR is on iTunes. now. It got very popular since four hours ago. It past five shows! Buy it now! 96.250.240.155 (talk) 17:00, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Megas Acronym[edit]

I may be mistaken, but isn't it Advance System instead of Attack System?

Could you site references on this one? I always thought it was Advance and not Attack, something I heard about 4 years ago, and was wondering how do we even know what it stands for since it is never mentioned in the show?
